Lawrence O'Donnel in church

I just watched Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC airing himself speaking in a black church somewhere. I didn't listen long enough to hear which church. I think it was one of those AME churches in the North East. But I have to wonder what they believe because O'Donnell has said some of the most hateful things about Christianity I've ever heard on TV. It must be one of those Jesus Seminar driven churches. You know, more of a New Age type worship where Jesus wasn't a real man and especially not God in the flesh.

My question is, just how many churches are out there that just preach a social justice and leave out the Gospel? Are these churches on the rise?
