Just general observations that the KJV can be confusing and cause one to skip over verses because one cannot understand the text as written.

I've got a list of particularly confusing KJV verses and your findings have increased the list somewhat.

    Example from my list:
    2 Peter 2:3

3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make "merchandise of you": whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. [KJV]
3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. [NIV]

There are places where the KJV does improve upon the Geneva Bible.

But as you indicate, there are also some places where the renderings of the Geneva Bible can properly be considered clearer, better, or more accurate than those in the KJV.

I just don't get the KJV rendering of Ruth 3:16 which I had posted:Who art thou,my daughter? Why would Naomi ask her daughter-in-law that kind of question? Even in the English of 400 plus years ago it just doesn't make any sense to me.
Whereas the NIV is ultra-clear:How did it go,my daughter?

    K -- rent a kid
    N -- torn a young goat

"Rent a kid" just sounds funny! But from the context one would be able to get it.

"They fled" is more like it;not a mere "turned their backs." The NET has "retreated."
I think that the NIV says it more completely than merely "a near kinsman."The NLTse has "family redeemer."
The KJV rendering sounded so strange. But in the NET notes it meant the same thing as :"are you now his wife?"

Again, the NIV rendering is a more complete translation. The NLTse has :"This publicly validated the transaction."
