I for the life of me cannot imagine what anyone would believe dwarfs the slaughter of unborn children.

I'd like to see a thread that would be positive toward the unborn (aborted), yet condemn the practice of abortion.

    The unborn are (imo) redeemed.

We should be praising the God of Heaven that His grace exceeds that of ours, in that the Kingdom is made up of the likes of babes (aborted or not), and against that of the more "wise" that exalt their own righteousness to that of Hell bound.

I suppose idolatry, spiritual adultery, would be worse than the slaughter of the unborn. Sadly some in the democrat party have made a god out of that slaughter, sacrificing the children for the convenience of the pregnant woman and the wealth of the butcher. Anyone who saw how this slaughter was celebrated at the last democrat national convention should have no doubts.

Sadly in biblical times child sacrifice was not uncommon. See Lev 18:21. Pagan people caused their children to “pass through the fire” as human sacrifices to Molech. Many of these sacrificed children were probably unwanted pregnancies, a result of the temple prostitutes and the sexual acts that were also part of pagan worship.

We think we are so civilized and advanced with our modern society, yet thousands of years ago they were having orgies and calling it worship of their gods and then killing the unwanted babies as sacrifices to the same. All we have done (as a society, not us as Christians) is replace Molech and Baal with hedonistic materialism.

    I agree, OR.

The US is no better than Israel with their temples to pagan gods and sacrificing of children in the desire of convenience, wealth, and self pleasures, the like of which which God abhors and brought certain judgment.

Judgment of God will come, it will be devastating, and it will leave nothing of the US. God no longer blesses America. God has removed His hand and America will become nothing but wasteland. Just as Israel was in the time of Jeremiah.

Many will be naysayers to the proclamation of coming judgment, just as in the day of Jeremiah, but the die is cast - judgment is coming. It is already at the door and will not be assuaged though any strength of humankind.

Such judgment will be FIRST poured out in America and then to the whole world.

For America, alone, claimed to be God blessed in song and statements, the nation that proclaimed Godly providence at its founding and founding declaration(s). When God sends judgment to the world, will he first bring it to that nation in which it can be truly said has rejected the Word of God. Such judgment began in 1963.

Any nation so blessed by God, any nation that rose to lead the world, but has turned from the true light, that has placed health and wealth as indicators it is blessed of God, yet rejects the very Word of God, and embraces the pagan god, will be utterly destroyed - and that destruction will be complete.

Spoken like one consumed by issues while being blind to sin.

How about greed and gluttony? Oh, wait, that one will get ignored.

What about heterosexual lust?Oh, wait, that one will get ignored.

What about gossiping? Oh, wait, that one will get ignored.

What about unrighteous judging? Oh, wait, that one will get ignored.

What about not honoring and respecting those God has placed in authority over us? Oh, wait, that one will get ignored.

What about not loving our neighbor as ourselves? Oh, wait, that one will get ignored.

There are plenty of sins within the church that dwarf abortion. But we're much more comfortable talking about everything but our own unrepentant sin.

Are you one of those who celebrate the slaughter of the unborn! I believe sin is sin in the sight of God. For you to list those sins you have and say they dwarf abortion speaks volumes about you as a "true believer"!

    Are we prioritizing sins?

Didn't Jesus say that one who violated one aspect of the Law was as guilty as one who violated them all? "Sin", at the simplest level, is rebellion against God. In that sense, all sin is equal, isn't it? Didn't Jesus also say that harboring the idea of sin in one's heart is just as guilty as doing the act?

I find it hard to categorize other's conduct and not examine my own. Please don't anyone take this as a slap or nasty shot; it is my own reflections on the subject.

Yes, as humans we categorize 'crimes' - most of which in the western world are based on Biblical sins - in levels of seriousness. For instance, misdemeanors and felonies. As humans, we see rape or murder as more serious than non-contact burglary or petty theft.

But from God's standpoint which is greater? I submit we may be looking at this from a skewed point of view.

None of this is to mitigate the evil and horror of abortion. I fear as a nation we may suffer the same fate as Israel and Judah for departing from obedience to the Lord. However, as a nation we have already 'legalized' adultery; does that not make us subject to wrath as much as abortion?

I agree that sin is sin when examined in our relation with God. Do you believe that there are “degrees” of sin (a greater and lesser sin, with even the lesser bringing just condemnation)?

It is obvious how desensitized the church has become to abortions. Sad.

    Jon -

In fact, I do. I find sins that hurt others more offensive than those that don't. I was a lawman most of my working life; so I think in terms of crime unless I force myself to discard that. I see things from my viewpoint and I'm not sure the Lord sees it the same way.

A number of years ago, a man in the San Diego (Larry someone, I think - it has been a while) area embezzled several millions of dollars from an investment fund. The short version is the fund went bankrupt and the investors lost their investment. The result of this was a number of the investors lost everything, including homes and savings; several died from shock, starvation and suicide.

But embezzlement isn't a violent crime by definition.

So what 'sins' don't hurt others? (That's not a trivia challenge; rather a thought to ponder.)

I cannot think of a sin that is more repulsive. Within the context of the local church, the greatest sin that runs rampant is gossip.

It is usually related to things others are doing. Instead of praying for those who sin to be restored to a relationship with the Lord, or going to the person themselves, they stand around in small groups and babble about it.

No, I do not think abortion is worse than slander or backbiting. Is that your opinion? Calling someone a liar is slander, with no proof, so, I would have thought common sense would dictate you would pick another comparison. I have asked you in PM and here on the board to stay away from my posts and that is exactly what I meant.

You have no authority LOL! Sat/Nep you are a trip. Perhaps a power trip. Anyone can comment on any post --no one can deny that right. You have no czar-like control of the BB. Although you very much may covet that kind of position.
