Why does Andrew Jackson's actions during the Nullifaction Controversy get a free pass and Abraham Lincoln get hammered?

The time of the Nullification Controversy was one of a series of small political skirmishes that eventually lead to disunion decades later. A state nullifying federal law only impacts that state unless other states also join in the nullification. Other states didn't widely support the state's refusal, and so the issue became more focused upon one particular region. It was not until the Union continued with unfair and inhuman laws that would bolster their own power and wealth on the backs of the whole realm of the South that the local state legislatures were forced to resolve to separate.

The controversy came at a low point of Jackson's public support, and was handled by Jackson in a way that presented him as powerful enough to later take down the central banking leader that was more powerful than the federal government at the time.

No one likes banks and the power of the banking industry, especially politicians, when the leader holds more control than the federal government. When Jackson took down the central banking, folks pushed his popularity back up.

The difference between the two men is also remarkable in their character.

Jackson was known for battle hardened strategic planning and leading, and he was unafraid of what others thought nor shy to walk in and personally face down a controversy.

Lincoln was known for ----- telling stories.

Get ready for a repeat of history. South Carolina is moving toward nullification of the ACA (healthcare law) within its own borders and, if it does so, other states will follow. Controversy leading to disunion? Happened before ...

Obamacare is unconstitutional regardless of what the Supreme Court says! I believe the states would be within their rights.
