Is the mind and the soul the same thing?

Is the mind and spirit the same thing?

If not, how are they different?

I see you have no interest in the spiritual, the philosophical or introspection. Had a long and very interesting discussion on this topic, but primarily on consciousness, with a college math professor this morning while we were feeding homeless people.

Are you speaking from your mean spirit or mind?

I've said before I am against abortion. So you are simply being a troll and very untruthful in your accusation. I guess it is simply your profound hatred showing again.

What is your interest ? You started a thread on life, yet will not add to it. Now you want to confuse mind and soul, when there is no question what their roles are. You add eastern theology which states we can be complete without Christ. What is your purpose in these discussions ?

    "….yea, hath God said…."

And please, enough with your "I'm against abortions" garbage. Everything you do is designed to protect them. Even this.

I would have to dig into the scriptures again to get into a long discussion, but the gist of my position is that man is a dichotomy of substance - body and spirit - while there is a third "aspect" of a man, which is not substance, but his personhood.

This third aspect of a man is his soul, or psyche. It is his mind, will, emotions, intellect, rationale, etc

So man has two aspects of "what" he is, and one aspect of "who" he is

The mind is attached to, not intertwined with, the spirit, always. That's because the man is a spirit, residing in a body. But the we are naked, and incomplete, without the body.

Scripture uses "soul" to refer to the mind, the spirit, or the whole man. I think this fits nicely with what I believe about the di- or tri- chotomy of man.

Mind is the organized conscious and unconscious adaptive mental activity of an organism.

Also the The spirit is the incorporeal part of humans.

    Likewise the mind is incorporeal.

    Likewise the soul is incorporeal.

This makes a connection between the three , but it does not prove nor disprove that they are the same. Also the spirit or soul is that part of you which takes on the nature of God. According to the Word, once that happens you should immediately start the process of changing your soul. The Bible calls it "renewing the mind." In other words when the mind changes through renewal the spirit also changes or is renewed.

So, is the mind and spirit the same. I am not sure, but am tilting that direction..

Actually, scripture refers to the soul as a ghost
