I'm curious as to what "kind" of Baptist are here on BB?

I am more accustomed to Baptists that basically believe and teach more like Chuck Swindoll than John MacArthur. More Ryrie than Reformed.

Scarce as hen's teeth where I live.

    How about where you are?

We have G.A.R.B.: out of Grand Rapids and kjvo.
We have many Ruckmanites, the other weirder, but with more knowledge AVO
We have Malone's offspring, and Vick's, out of Motown
And we have Hylesites all over.

Here in Minneapolis we have all kinds. Being the home base of John Piper, there are a lot of Reformed, or "Piperheads" but we also have IFB and non-Cal Baptists. There is a notable absence of SBC, the few SBC in the area minister to Asian and eastern European people.

    IFB belong to GARBC-

    Non-Calvinistic

    Non-KJVO

There are no SBC churches that I'm aware of. There are Freewill Baptist churches. Most are IFB. There are a few KJVO churches.

I know of Southern Baptist churches in my area (and I attend one), and there's at least one independent Baptist church.
About 40 minutes away there's an old primitive Baptist church not in use anymore that my step-grandmother recalls attending as a kid.

I believe in the BFM 2000, as our local church is Southern Baptist. Within that church, I am going to say 40% of our congregation believes in doctrines of sovereignty and grace. Brother Tom that posts on here is one of them. Mine comes from growing up in the PCA church. (conservative Presbyterian)

As far as the BFM 2000 being in conflict with the Reformed beliefs, I do not see that at all. The BFM only touches on the sovereignty of God and how it interfaces with the free will of man.

In far Western Kentucky, overall, I would say there is a slight majority of free will. Fifty years ago, it was almost all free will. By free will, I mean it was believed everyone has the freedom within them to accept a call to salvation. The increase to say 35-40% has happened in the last few decades.

I think that most of the baptist and plenty here on this board are just a bunch of hypocrite.
It's not the religion or denomination you are in. There is no baptist being mentioned in the bible.

Pretty traditional baptist. Church supports missions through SBC, BGCT and CBF. I designate only to CBF. Though none of these groups really represent my church or me in totality, we are a pretty diverse group.

I read or was told that there are more than 40 different kinds of Baptist churches with different beliefs. I don't know what they call themselves, but one "Baptist" church supposedly has Catholic teachings. My home city has a 7th Day Baptist church.

I used to call myself to be a fundamentalist. However, with terrorists being called "fundamentalists", I'm leery of calling myself that any more. Now I just say I'm born again.

I attemd/membership in a local baptist church, part of the North American bib le conference great lakes branch, and would say that we have a broad mixture of many types of baptists in our ranks, as I tend to be Reformed in regards to Sotierology, but more with Ryrie in other doctrines in bible!
