I had one longing which it seems is never going to realise.
I so desired to write in my mother-tongue, my beloved ‘moedertaal’, Afrikaans.
But all doors are being shut in my face in my own country. My own nation appears not to palate the sound of the Gospel of Jesus Christ—which is the only word I would love be heard in Africa’s only language conceived in and given birth to by Christian womb. O the freedom, the scope, the ready connection between mind, soul, word and lips I would have enjoyed.

Thank you BaptistBoard if only I could say this before I died.

I found a pocket of South Africans in an area where I planted a church, in the early 2000's.
The area was fast against an all Negro area, 4 blocks from our rented building.

I had much fun, calling the Afrikaans speakers : "African-Americans", while explaining to the Blacks that they were not, unless they held citizenship in an African Country.

Is your native tongue similar to Dutch? In the area I live in there are many, many Dutch inhabitance. My Sister in Law's families founded Bergen County (in New Jersey) & my sons girl friends family is also one of the original Dutch settlers here.

So, with that said, I would like to thank you for this gal!

I suspect his point might be that there is a cringing by many people with the use of the word 'Negro,' especially by the young, because of the oppression in which the word was born, and because that name was imposed on African-Americans. There seems to be a most violent objection to the term among young people, who also link the word 'Negro' with Uncle Tom.

My guess is that he has never done that.
I have helped to start 13 churches in
Black areas, in inner city Chicago, Gary, and the surrounding burbs.

Had I used the phrase "African American" , it wouldve spoiled my punch-line.
