God discriminated in the sense that He called it wrong to follow false gods if one of His people, to practice witchsraft, homosexuality, idolatry etc...

Why are we so afraid to label and call behaviour and practices same way He already has?

I think that Paul clearly states that we are to judge those who are within the church (and this is exactly what he does in 1 Corinthians 5). Unfortunately (and in my opinion substantiated only by personal experience) this is often an ignored doctrine.

Would you extend that to include what is allowed among the local assemble, such as active fornicating, homosexuality, gossiping, racism etc?

calling out those practicing and doing those things?

So in other words, we can't tell people they sin and are sinners if they are not in the body? How do we then tell people they are in need of a Savior?

well, since we cannot even label homosexuality, false views on salvation, the bible etc anymore by many ewithin the church, as that would be "judging", guess anything goes!

Yes, and those things should be addressed as well.

Within the church, yes. But only in context of Scripture. I believe that Scripture is the authority for discerning what is godly – and we are commanded to exercise discernment and discipline within the church. Gossip, homosexuality, fornication, drunkenness…all of these are wrong. When it comes to our own interpretation of what is wrong, then it gets sketchy at best (dancing because it may lead to fornication, having a drink because it may lead to drunkenness, rock music because it may lead to drunken fornication and a bad haircut…etc.).

IMHO, there is a difference in expounding on sin/demonstrating the need for a Savior and simply judging a world already condemned. I think that Jesus’ words to the woman at the well are a good example. He didn’t start off by calling her sin into question – or by proclaiming the city’s condemnation. She was actually aware of her sin. Jesus did not, however, simply ignore her sin either. It is perhaps good to remember that what defines the saved from the lost is not sin, but Christ - but repentance is essential and we cannot have repentance without godly sorrow over our sin. I think that this is actually a different issue as the OP stated “one of His people – but it would be an interesting thread to explore how we are to judge the world.

Do you give them the same right to say you are a sinner as you do not believe as they do?

I was thinking mainly about those withint he body that profess jesus has saved them, but also refusing to either label a sinful behaviour as being such, or refusing to even try to deal with it!

God's judgment is revealed, and we are to tell them what God's judgment of them is, and the civil government has the duty of executing that judgment.

Then what right did Peter have to rebuke Simon the sorcerer for trying to 'buy' the gift of the Holy Spirit?

Also have the responsibility to influence and change the moral climate of the land, for if christians did not rise up to have slavery in England andUS abolished...

For as long as the Body of jesus is here, we are to proclaim his name, and also to influnce the culture with salt and light!

They absolutely have the right to say I'm a sinner - and I am. I know I am. I'm saved by the grace of God but I'm a sinner.
