Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

This is the account of Jesus washing the disciples feet, just prior to the Last Supper. While reading these verses I was struck with the possibility that maybe God, at this instant, revealed to Jesus the totality of what it meant for Jesus to be both God and man. It seems silly to speculate on this, after all Jesus IS God, but were there some things that God kept hidden from his Son? Why else is this verse in the Bible? And we know that Jesus said earlier that not even He knew the day nor hour when He would return. Did He learn that at this point in time as well?

jesus chose to be Incarnated as a sinless human, chose to not stay in heaven with the father, but came to earth and assumed on humanity, so he chose to grow up and learn and know things as we do, but he ALWAYS reamined as God, and at times showed means to know herats and thoughts of others...

think this not knowing part of nature of his kenosis, an at his resuurected, took back on fullness of his glory, so was no longer self limited in knowing!

Jesus always knew He had all authority in heaven. He simply chose not to exercise it until His Earthly ministry began.

Think that Jesus reassumed His full rights again as being God when he ascended back to the father, as at THAT time, God reglorified with His "normal status!"

ASLWAYS was God while on earth, but veiled and cloaked in humanity, with limitations that imposed upon himself!

Jesus is God--in the flesh. Immanuel. Jesus is as eternal as Elohim and Jehovah.

Jesus, the second man-Adam, was born of a virgin, the seed from a woman as promised. He and John the Baptist recognized each other--in the womb. Jesus knew His mission when he stayed back at the temple--age 12??

"He who has seen me has seen The Father"--Jesus, an adult.

"If you do not believe that I AM that I AM, you will die in your sin"--Jesus to the Jews. He is Jehovah of Exodus, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Scripture says Jesus is the lamb slain from before the foundation of the world. Seems reasonable to conclude He volunteered to leave heaven; never loosing His Glory.

We have difficulty with Jesus: all-God, all-Man. Theologians still stumble with it. How can the clay define the potter?

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

OK, if this has always been known, just before Jesus is going to be crucified, John writes verse 3-4:

3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

WHY did he write this at this time? It reads like an If-Then statement. Jesus knew...so he got up and....

Some see that Jesus refused to allow Himself to use of His divine attributes while here on earth, instead relying totally upon the Father and the holy Spirit, modeling that for us as way to live here...

    Do you agree with that?
