I was thinking how a lot of folks I talk to think we are living at a time when God will have Jesus return! I would love to think they are right, but I just can't agree with them, especially when they say that such and such or this recent earthquake in this place of the world is another sign of the end!

Do you see anything that would support the pessimisms of others as to the sad state of affairs this world is now in as being a sign of the Lord's return?

Let me just say that I still hold to the truth that the Lords coming will be more like a thief in the night, in other words, we will have NO forewarning when the trumpets sound, and He fills the eastern skies!

Is there anything that you see happening today that would indicate His eminent return?

Conversely, I would ask if there is ANYTHING to preclude His emminent return???

Or, IOW, what still needs to be accomplished before He can return & take us HOME??

AFAIK, it will still be "as a thief--", cause there is no warning as such given - it just happens.

isreal reborn as anation, massive Muslim persucution of Christians, more may have dies fro jesus past decade than rest of history until now, and christianity getting into closed off areas like islamic lands!

And seems like large scale desertion of the faith, as many seem to be going into new Age, WoF, making jesus just another religious leader, no hell, all saved etc!

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
    Matt. 24:3-14

I remember reading this as a kid and thinking how about the earthquakes. Every earthquake I used to read about or hear about in the news had generally devastated some city and the epicenter was on land.

I distinctly remember when the tsunami hit back in 2004 in the SE Asia regions thatthey talked about how the epicenter was so deep that divers couldn't survive there.

I agree with JWP's sentiment. Is there anything to preclude His imminent return?

Jesus Christ will not return until the last of the elect is in the Household of Faith, the Church. At that time there will be a resurrection of all the dead followed by the White Throne Judgment. Satan and his will be cast into the Lake of Fire. All the redeemed, the Bride of Jesus Christ, the Church, will dwell in the New Heavens and New Earth with the Triune God.

Can you provide a single verse of Scripture that supports the so-called rapture? I am not going to hold my breath while I wait because no one has yet been able to do so!

The problem i that you see those verses through spiritualized Covenant theology lenses by brother, while isee them thru Dispy literal meaning intended ones!

Just present one passage of Scripture that supports the so-called rapture.

As for theology: When one reads the Bible they read about Covenants, not dispensations. The word dispensation only occurs 4 times in the Bible, all in the New Testament. There it means economy or stewardship.

Dispensationalism as a theology does not flow from Scripture but is imposed on Scripture and that is a fact. That is also, I believe, why people are moving away from classic dispensationalism to progressive dispensationalism and will eventually wind up in the covenant premillennial camp.

In the last closed thread I asked you to demonstrate your claim of the spiritual ized writing

There is figurative language that needs to be understood. Offer your support now.

In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.

    Zechariah 14:4 nasb

Waiting until second coming of Jesus to earth, at beginning if Millinium!

It is figurative and needs to be understood but what has that to do with the "Rapture" or the millennium?

How can we interprete that figuratively? messiah comes to earth, earthquake happens, pretty much lliteral sense to me intended!

Same way, scriptures speaking of us rising to meet him in the air in physical bodies is lietral, as is ruling upon earth!

The passage says nothing about an earthquake. If Jesus Christ is standing on the top what happens when it splits. What is the purpose of the mountain splitting.

Now quit dodging my question and show one passage of Scripture that proves, without dispensational spin, the pre-trib Rapture of the Church.

Frankly I am not looking for a sign of His returning. I am looking for the rapture of the church and no sign will be given for that.

I will ask you the same question I have asked another on this thread: Can you present one passage of Scripture that definitively proves, without dispensational spin, a pre-trib rapture of the Church?

    1 Thessalonians 4
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

"Caught up" is the English translation of the Koine word here - harpadzo.

Why "rapture" is used concerning this passage and this word

Because this same word is translated as "rapturo" in Latin, namely the Vulgate which uses the stem from rapt..., rapturo.

Concerning the "catching up" of the saints, the word "rapture" was first used by Jesuit priest because that is what his vulgate Bible said in this passage.

Here is the very same word used by Paul of his own personal rapture:

    2 Corinthians 12
2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth such an one caught up to the third heaven.
3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

If I read Old Regular's challenge correctly, he's looking for a scripture passage which clearly teaches a PRE-TRIB rapture.

He's not challenging the fact of the rapture, he's challenging the dispensational view of the timing of the rapture.
