Not a drop of Irish in me, although I have an affinity for my Gaelic speaking cousins. I'll wear my Robertson clan tartan in their honor.

Catholics wear green. Non-Catholics wear orange.

If you like supporting the murdering king of England, Ireland and Scotland, the usurper of lands and titles, the you wear orange. Otherwise, you celebrate your Irish heritage with the "wearin' o' the green" as a sign of the heritage, not the Catholic faith.

That is Roman Catholics crabtownboy, not Catholics.

    cath·o·lic [kath-uh-lik, kath-lik]
    adjective
    1. broad or wide-ranging in tastes, interests, or the like; having sympathies with all; broad-minded; liberal.
    2. universal in extent; involving all; of interest to all.
    3. pertaining to the whole Christian body or church.

The Catholic communion is not the Universal Church much as they like to teach!

Yup - this is correct. The 'wearing of the green' started in the 1798 uprising which was cross-faith

William of Orange, or William III to the Netherlands, England and Ireland, William II to Scotland, was no picnic.

Only saying that green was not the colour of Irish nationalism till 1798 and that it was never a Catholic colour. Trying to support your point.

Oh, I know. Sorry if you thought I was being contentious. It occurred to me I hadn't identified the "murdering king" in my OP, and didn't want to edit it since you'd already quoted it.

I have on striped socks. I am wearing orange, green, red, white, black, blue and purple.

But I DO have corned beef boiling in beer on the stove. I decided to use Sam Adams instead of Guiness thinking the Guiness might be a little strong. :)

Corned beef is Irish-American though, not Irish :)

Besides, Guinness pulled its sponsorship of the NYC St. Paddy's Day Parade because the city banned "certain groups" from the parade.
