And yet you have not said anything about the people. I am blessed to have had a grandmother & Great Grandfather from that country (pre WW2) so they are most likely quite different from the present generation EU strain. Still, there is an understated & quiet quality about them.

I like the people very much. They have been friendly and whenever there was a need they were very willing to help. If they see a need they will offer to help. A young woman helped us very much one night when we were on a train that stopped and everyone had to get off. She explained the unscheduled stop and exit. As she also was going to Prague she stuck by us and made sure we arrived safely. We had to change trains twice. The original one we were on was a direct to Prague train. However there had been an accident and we were rerouted.

In Prague and the Czech Republic I have never felt that I was in danger of any kind, regardless of the time of day or night or the portion of the city or country where I found myself. There is very little violent crime.

People, even teenagers on subways, trams or buses will jump up and give up their seat to anyone who is older. The elderly will get up and offer their seats to any pregnant woman.

I hope you can visit the Czech Republic some time.

Those are Czech qualities from what I have seen.

I truly believe that Prague is the most beautiful city in the world. There are others I really like, such as Tallinn, Estonia, Krakow, Poland, Seville, Spain, Siena, Italy and St. Petersburg. But Prague is at the top of my list.

LOL......Who are you attempting to be.....the son of the "Great Grammarian" ;). You know who!

Crabby said, "Seville, Spain,// Siena, Italy." Yes, he should have used something to separate a city from a country. I would give him his apparent fascination for the beauty of Prague in the Czech Republic as a blinding impediment to correctness. As for me having poor grammar, I just could not care less.

I believe that broadly speaking, that these are the qualities of all Slavic people......in particular Czechs & Slovaks ..... and I have Polish & Ukrainian blood who are very calm, mannerly etc. Im still wondering who makes the best easter eggs.

The best ester eggs? I would not venture a guess. I have seen incredible ones in the Czech Republic and Poland. When I was a kid I thought we made beautiful Easter eggs. Little did I know what could be done to an egg. They are real works of art.

Do you have any relatives who paint the designs on them?

My dad did......I used to watch him blow out the yokes by putting a pin hole in the egg. Then he would use wax to design the egg......little fuzzy cause he died when I was 12. My aunts family also, but most of the old ones also gone. If I go back to Scranton, they still do the old traditions. I miss the people and I miss the food. What did you think about the food. And did you ever go to a Easter service at what we call, "a church Slovinak " ....very interesting service if you can get through it. Then there is the Slivitz. LOL!

We went to an Easter service at a Catholic church in Krakow, Poland. I am not sure if this is the same that you mentioned. All the kids were dressed in their best. Each had a basket, food I think, which the priest sprinkled holy water over. My guess was that the food in the baskets would be part of the Easter meal in their homes.

I have watched women painting the eggs at Easter booths in town markets. It is fascinating to watch them work.

Actually, I had no idea. I've been to Palma de Mallorca, Spain, which is beautiful, and I've been to Cartegena, Spain. Not beautiful. Ive been to Singapore which is beautiful, and Naples, Italy, not beautiful.
