Atheist ‘Noah’ director brags film is least biblical Bible movie ever

    Note to Christians and those who believe the Bible: The producer of the movie “Noah,” a self-professed atheist, says he is proud of the fact that he’s taken a story inspired by God’s word and turned it into something so secular.

    Director Darren Aronofsky called his movie “the least biblical biblical film ever made,” The Telegraph reported. He also claimed his leading character, Noah, was the “first environmentalist,” something that suggests the movie storyline doesn’t exactly follow the Bible’s.

    And something else the suggests a serious divergence from the biblical account: Not once during the movie is the name “God” spoken, an early reviewer found, The Telegraph reported.

    Christian groups have raised such an outcry that Paramount, the studio that’s put out the film, has issued an explanatory statement.

    It reads, in part: The film is “inspired by the story of Noah” but at the same time, “artistic license has been taken.” The statement also gives this helpful advice: “The biblical story of Noah can be found in the book of Genesis.”

    Sounds like he wants Christians to make a big stank about it to drum up more publicity. If the Christians come out against it, then lots of other folks will flock to see it.

    My wife and I went to see it today. The first half was pretty good, and pretty biblical. The second half was pure Hollywood fiction - interesting but not even remotely biblical.

    As to the word "God" not being mentioned, that is correct. Noah, and others, always referred to Him as "The Creator."

    I had a bit of a problem with the "fallen ones" - fallen Angles - who helped Noah build the ark.

    Of Noah's three sons only Shem took a wife with him on the ark. Shem's wife bore him twin daughters whom I suppose Ham and Japheth married.

    Oh, and Tubalcain stowed away on the ark and tried to kill Noah.

    And Noah thought God only wanted Noah and his sons to build the ark, but wanted them to die out after the animals were saved from the flood. Noah thought man was too sinful to survive. He went so far as to attempt to kill Shem's twin daughters, to keep them from bearing children to Ham and Japheth - IE, post birth abortion, in order to "do the right thing."

    And the movie made a big deal out of man's actual sin was the destruction of the environment. And the purpose of the flood was to restore the environmental damage man had done.

    Typical Hollywood. But over all, it was entertaining, even though it had nothing to do with the biblical account. :)

    The first half was pretty Biblical? :laugh: The first half was awful. The second half was worse.

    I went into this movie with no misgivings about its accuracy. And they made clear in the first few minutes with the Watchers that it wasn't supposed to be Biblically accurate.

    But I thought the movie would at least be entertaining. This has to be one of the worst movies of all time. It just completely sucked. It was dull. It was slow.

    Noah came across as a crazed , psychotic, murdering imbecile.

    The writing and the dialog was just all around bad.

    I read he called Noah a MYTH!

    Once I saw that he felt Noah was a myth, I said to my wife, we can definitely "myth" this movie!:smilewinkgrin:

    Truth is, I wouldn't waste my time or money on anything directed by a person who viewed the Bible and creation as a "Myth!" Just sayin'!

    I have to say I was skeptical of the bad reviews Christians were giving this movie. (Having grown up in a home where something as innocuous as Pokemon was considered evil, I tend to be skeptical of bad reviews on religious grounds, okay. Many of the things I either grew up with our enjoy now are decried by many Christians for what I see to be petty reasons.)

    But after reading a review by a Christian blogger I follow who definitely isn't prone to overreacting, I have to say from what he said the movie isn't worth watching. Noah trying to murder his grandchildren? Just, what the heck??

    I can find a better way to spend $20 than watch Russell Crowe destroy biblical truth at the direction of Darren Aronosfsky. The latter was interviewed by The New York Times. He claimed his movie was different from the usual Biblical spectacle, that he was not interested in the big scenes. So he said. What he wanted to do was delve into the deeper truths about mankind, sin, good and evil. Forget it. He did no such thing. He lied. All he did was make what is described by Hollywood standards as "an epic" when, in fact, it is nothing by a grade "B" thrill-chill-kill movie. I've seen nothing to lead me to think otherwise. Why spend our money on liars?

    PS: What's with these "rock monsters" I've heard about? "Fallen angels"? Ya gotta be kiddin' me!

    Like I said, I wasn't expecting accuracy or truth for that matter. But Noah was trying to kill everybody. They got rid of Hem and Japheth's wives and brought some crazed guy trying to kill Noah onto the Ark.

    The actual story was much more interesting than the story they made up. It was truly one of the worst movies of all time.
