It has been known for a long time that torture is a poor way of gathering intelligence. People will say anything to they believe the torturers want to hear to get them to stop.

Wrong. It has been alleged by terrorist apologists and sympathizers that enhanced interrogation -- whether you like it or not, it isn't torture -- is a poor way to gather intelligence, but the Senate report, written by the Marxist majority, lies. The CIA states emphatically that the report's conclusions are erroneous, and they are correct. This is all a pissing contest over who actually violated the law in the review of top-secret documents stored at Langley.

It's not torture when "we" do it. It's only torture when "they" do it.

That's just like it's not tyrannical for our government to have the power to imprison or execute us without due process. It's only tyrannical when another country's government has that power.

Water boarding is torture. Have you all ever heard of the "Chinese Water Torture?" It was much less strenuous than water boarding, just a constant dripping on the forehead. But notice it is, nevertheless, called "torture."

Those who advocate torture (by any name) are just as bad as the targets of their torture.

Just because one can attach the word "torture" to it does not make the nature of it immoral. The Chinese Water Torture would never be considered a problem. The word "torture" gets misused to fill an agenda.

    You tell em Rev!

    Words can be so misleading.

For instance, this http://www.theguardian.com/gall/0,8542,1211872,00.html is NOT torture.

It's enhanced intelligence gathering. We're the good guys! [IMG]

So, we can strap your down, let water drip on your forehead for several days, no bathroom breaks, no food, all this on a hard surface, shackles on your wrists and ankles and your head strapped down so you cannot move and you will be happy as a clam when it is over. Get real.

Rev ain't a terrorist. Frankly I don't give a rat's hirsuit gluteous maximus what they do to a known terrorist to get information from him/her. Whether the blatantly biased, Marxist-dominated Senate wants to acknowledge it or not, water boarding got us the info that got bin Laden. All by pouring a little water up a couple guy's noses. Big deal.

And before you ask, yes, I've been waterboarded, among other preparations for enhanced interrogation by the enemy. If you know its coming, you can endure such treatment. The effort to frighten someone doesn't work if they refuse to be frightened.

Torture, on the other hand, is pulling fingernails and toenails out, burning the skin with hot metal rods or cigarettes, putting acid in the eyes. Sorry to disappoint, but we don't do that.

There is no way on God's good green earth a true Christian would say anything like this and the rest of the garbage that you and Rev, and the rest of your haters group says. We are all created in God's image. We are all created BY GOD! ALL! Not just ignorant, white, racist, hate filled American's without two clues to rub together. You ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN in actions, in speech, in any way and I weep that the people of this world see people like you and associate me with you. YOU, and every last one of your fellow haters are what is wrong with the Church today! You wouldn't know God's grace if it slapped you in the your empty head!

You're not my judge, He is, and I'm confident He and I are fine, equally confident that He and the Rev are fine.

Second, as I said, this isn't torture, so get off your high horse and concern yourself with the atrocities that the terrorists commit with every homicide bomb, every car bomb, every IED they set off. When I hear terrorist apologists begin to condemn them as loudly as they do our own people, particularly given that our own people are not committing anything nearly as heinous as they are, I might -- emphasis, might -- give some minor credence to what you have to say. Get a clue regarding this discussion. Right now, you have none. Moreover, it is unlikely you will acquire any. End of story.

Some of you people really cause me great concern. By advocating torture, and even changing what you call it in an attempt to justify it, are showing that you have no more ethics, no more morality, no more conscience, than the filth we are fighting against.

If you are what Christianity has come to be, then it is doomed. :(

    Wrong. ::smilewinkgrin:
As Col. Potter used to say, "Horse hockey."

Actually your understanding of the meaning of the word is too narrow. Merriam-Webster defines torture as:

Waterboarding is painful, very unpleasant and fills a person with terror. It is torture.
