Is it just me or does this forum have a disproportionate share of angry and bitter Baptists? I've seen ministers and ministries slandered, read gossip and read the accusation that using theological terms in the theology forum was somehow not being christian.

Did I come back at the wrong time?

Don't give up before you even get started brother. I see hope for us all here. Help us to be better. State your thoughts, articulate what you see, set an example for us to follow. Don't run away.

No, JM, you fit right in, finding fault with others. We try to exchange our views on how we understand scripture, but often when someone presents a view we have discarded, we let him or her know how unstudied, ignorant and foolish they are. Humility is often professed but seldom demonstrated. The "thanks for pointing out something I missed" response is seldom seen, but the "you have got to be kidding" can be found in nearly every thread.

It is good to take BB in doses. What I have found over the years is this: the haters and those who think they were sent from On High to come in here and straighten the rest of us out....do not last long. In all honesty, the ppl I play "The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth" are much MUCH nicer than SOME of the folks on here. I also belonged to a martial arts bulletin board and THEY were nicer than some folks here.....at least they weren't running around offending ppl and overreacting to any perceived slight. What I've seen here between a handful of ppl is plain silly. Just my $0.02.

Unfortunately, we are all guilty of using the anonymity of the Internet to be much more confrontational than we would be in life. Some of us engage in insult and denigration to rid ourselves of the anger that builds up during the day. Others are just naturally snarky and realize they can't be that way among friends, family and co-workers, but the forum provides them a place to express themselves as they want.

None of it is personal, we all reason, because we don't really "know" one another. The fallacy of that reasoning -- and I'm as guilty of it as anyone -- is that God knows. I realize from my professional experience and training this is an "unconscious-conscious reaction." We know we are doing it, we don't know why we are doing it, but we know there has to be a reason for it. We can reach down inside during our prayer and meditation time with God and find that reason, repent of it, and move on. Will we? Some yes, some no.

We each need to find out which answer we will give. Mine, from this point forward, will be "yes." In fact, I've am confident I've done that already. The amends I need to make will be forthcoming.

There are some who are bitter and angry. There are those who use the word liar, or Communist, or Socialist far too often and usually it shows they have no real knowledge of Communism or Socialism. There are those who are quite racist. There are those who are tolerant and accepting of others. There are those who can never admit a mistake. There are those who will ask questions but seldom if every answer a question. There are Democrats, Republicans, Tea Party folk and independents and everything in between.

Then then are those of us who are happy, secure in our knowledge of the Lord and our salvation.

It is just like life ... all kinds of folk show up on the board.

    Blessings to you and yours.

I have yet to find a Web site that is called "Christian" that isn't filled with people who want to argue over differences of opinion on non-salvation issues as though it's a matter of life and death that everyone agrees on ALL beliefs, and that everyone agrees with "me". Unlike a lot of people, I freely and willingly admit that I don't know all the answers, and that I'm sure I am not always right. I do know, positively, that (1) I was born again on May 18, 1963 (not by anything I did other than asking for forgiveness). (2) I am still born again (also, NOT by anything I've done), and (3) I will remain born again until the Lord calls me home (again, NOT by anything I've done or will do).

Salvation and forgiveness are free (except for the price that Jesus paid). There is nothing we can do to deserve it or keep it. Now, those of you who believe that God's forgiveness has a time limit, and that we are more powerful than God and can take ourselves out of His hand, can disagree with me and tell me how wrong I am.

I don't go to ANY Web site to argue with anyone. Unlike a lot of people, I don't consider most beliefs important enough to argue over them. Whether or not a person is born again is the important matter, and even there people have all kinds of personal beliefs about how we are saved, how we stay saved, and whether or not you can lose your salvation.

I thank God that His love for us has NO limits. Once we are His, it's His power alone that will keep us saved.

I used to go into several so-called "Christian" forums that are nothing but a place for so-called "Christians" to argue over beliefs, and for non-Christians to tell us all how wrong we are. I gave up on most of them. I do like the Baptist Board pretty well, which is why I came back. However, many posts are so far over my head in technical theological words and phrases that I don't understand, because some people want to impress the rest of us on how intelligent they are, and that they know scripture better than the rest of us.

Just once, I would like to find a Christian Web site where everyone agrees or disagrees in a friendly, polite, and Christian-like manner--NO name calling, NO arguing (it's possible to disagree WITHOUT arguing--I've done it with a friend), and where people are willing to admit that they don't know everything and don't have ALL the answers.

Please show us some examples you've seen of racism.

Yup. You will see people called "bigots". You will see people accused of racism. You will never see any explanation of these cowardly accusations. All for wanting to hold onto scripture.

You are quite correct. Satan influences our ministry, everyday. And the folks who trust the bible will always be a target.

There are, like within the church, a lot of -isms and not so much love for each other or for other people. :(

    Very sad.

Too many folks confuse their politics with their Christianity. And it's evidenced again and again that more are trying to win an argument than are trying to win souls and point folks to Christ. :( That makes for some bitter UGLY personalities.

Ah, there it is! The ultimate liberal cop-out: "It's so obvious, you can see it for yourself." If we could see it for ourselves, we wouldn't have to ask for a road map!

Let's be fair to crabby, if he pointed them out it would be a personal attack and the admins might just, and I add might be forced to do something with it.

Could we avoid some of the lawlessness by encouraging the rules, perhaps rewriting a few of them? If I get out of hand I would like a brother, sister or mederator to send me a message and tell me. Does this happen?
