Canada has just voted for its legislative candidates.

The Loberal Party appears to have won. The Liberal, supporters of Canadian unity won or were leading the race in about 75 of the National Assembly's 125 seats.

The opposition, the Parti Quebecois did not fare that well.

Should Quebec be allowed to become an independent country - since their lanuage is French?

Should The Louisiana Territory be allowed to secede because it was once French?

    Key word "WAS"

    Quebec is CURRENTLY French

but then again - I believe a State or Commonwealth, should have the right to secede as it sees fit! Just like a Baptist church!

    Well, not exactly ...
... speaking, but geographically and politically, it is part of Canada. I don't believe the Canadian Constitution allows for secession, but I could be wrong.
As do I. My point was, if you believe in secession here, you believe in secession there. But again, I don't know if Canada has an option for it.

Based on the OP's question, I suppose that one could make the assertion that shouldn't the language(s) of the whole of North America be a collection of Native American (or "First Nations" as they are called in Canada) languages?

Even the Conservative Party in Canada is liberal, don't get it twisted.

I say let them go as long as we don't have to foot the bill. See ya.

They want us to pay for them to leave. Not interested in that at all.

Our republican party has become slightly-less liberal group than the democrats.

How is Quebec doing, financially ? I noticed the Canadiens have turned it around quite nicely, after a disastrous 11-12 season, and getting roughed up pretty bad by the Senators last year. Last year doesn't really count, though.

Well, they want to keep the Canadian dollar and have a seat at the Bank of Canada (kinda like the FED but not really) to start. QB just happens to be Canada's most indebted province (when its GDP is measured comparatively to its size, etc.), they want to leave and dump their debt, and ask for further support to boot! In 2011 their debt was 160 billion dollars. That's for 8 million people...the latest number was 175 billion.

I dont see a problem with them using the C-Dollar, but other than that -they should be on their own.
