I have noticed over the past few years that the number of churches offering Good Friday Services has dwindled. Where once Good Friday Services were the norm they now are either not held at all or held at 7pm on Good Friday.

Have any of you noticed this trend in your area?

To answer your next question; Yes, our church is offering Good Friday Services from 12 noon to 1pm including the Lord's Supper.

I do not know of any Baptist churches in our area offering a good Friday service this year.

After studying the chronolgy of the crucifixion week I became convinced the Lord was sacrificed on Wednesday, so I never really cared for Friday services anyway.

I know there is room for disagrement. I have good friends in both the Friday and Thursday camp.

Well, I don't see the issue with having a Good Friday service at 7pm when the vast majority of congregants can attend. Actually, we will be having ours at 7:30 in the home of one of our deacons - after a 6:30 dinner together. We did it last year and it was wonderful. Dinner then some worship and finally a reading of the crucifixion, prayer then quietly go home.

If we had the service at noon, I think of our 60 people, three could attend.

In our community, the Association of churches (all denominations) have a joint Palm Sun (evening) and Good Friday service.

We are having a Maundy Thursday service with Lord's Supper, a community sunrise service and breakfast though not having a service on Friday.

Hi Ann. I don't have any issues with a 7pm service either. I should have worded the OP better.

Just curious as to what seems to be a trend toward not having any Good Friday Service at all.

Really like the dinner, reading of Scripture, and then Prayer that you're having though.

No. In fact, I think there are a lot more churches in the KC area offering Good Friday services than there were 10-15 years ago.
Just about everyone of them I've seen promoted or advertised are evening services.
