Yesterday the church was giving out free copies of this book to student that had graduated. It appears to have a New Age feel to it, not addressing sin, holiness, and seems to be focused on the fulfillment of self and such. But the biggest danger of this book from what I understand is that this book claims to be personal messages from Jesus to the author. Or am I incorrect on this book? What do you say?

Have you read the book? I have not, indeed I had never heard of the book.

Here is a description of the book from Amazon, from the link you gave:

One more splash of paint can't really hurt anything can it?

Reading a book on Rabbits would be a good idea for you wouldn't it? :) Hey I am trying to locate my animal almanac that has a picture and details on most every animal in the world including rabbits!

I am very leery of journaling in the sense of having God speaking to me, but also speaking for benefit of others thru me!

30 years ago I was in the Alliance and was taught I needed an experience with God. I was so hungry for one that one night I was scared to death as something was whispering in my ear. There was no one there but me!

I remember people in that movement claimed to see Jesus and He appeared to then in their quiet time. Then I remember 10 years ago a man claimed he had discernment and could see angels and devils on people. He claimed I had devils as it must have been my Calvinism that he strongly disliked and believe me I did my best to refute his false doctrines and lies!!!

What does Calvinism have to do with mysticism? Why is it always about Calvinism??? I don't know many people who check someone's stance on the Doctrines of Grace before they decide if that person is worthy of listening to or not. :BangHead:

Most devotionals are fluff. Expect little from them and you will never be disappointed.

I attended an Assemblies of god college, and was taught to journal, as we were to 'visualize' jesus coming to us in the Bible passages, picture us as being there listening to Him, and record what he shared with us!

Lots of folks write commentary on what they think the Bible actually teaches. Many of our threads on the BB attempt to convey Biblical Truth as we believe we have discerned it. Nothing wrong with that. :)

But seeking extra-biblical insight, i.e. what God to me personally, and then presenting it as an additional and credible revelation of God is totally bogus.

Is it a sin to want more than we have gleamed from the Bible? Nope. And prayer and meditation over God's scripture is certainly taught by Jesus as part of our "living by the Word of God."

But anytime a person crosses over and says, in effect, this is something God told me to tell you... you have a whack-job in your Presence. :)

My problem with it is she claims these were Jesus' messages to her...but not to mistake the book with being inerrant. Can't be both.

She also said that the Bible wasn't enough for her. She knew that God spoke to her through the Scriptures but it wasn't enough. That's wrong, IMO.

My feelings too. It's either truly from Jesus and it's inerrant or it's not from Him and it's your opinion - thus errant.

We came from similar backgrounds. But God opened both our eyes and moved us to Reformed Theology.

A brother said he would mail me a book that refutes that book. I did not ask for it but he said he would mail several copies FREE of charge and FREE of shipping. I plan to give some to the pastoral staff. I already have enough books.
