Unrepentant warmongers once again emerging from the shadows

Douglas Feith, Bush’s Undersecretary of Defense for Policy who supervised the Pentagon’s Office of Special Plans, has weighed in on Iraq.

“This is the education of Barack Obama, but it’s coming at a very high cost to the Syrian people to the Iraqi people [and] to the American national interest,” he told Politico. “The president didn’t take seriously the warnings of what would happen if we withdrew and he liked the political benefits of being able to say that we’re completely out.”

In other words, he would enjoy the approval of the American people who historically oppose war, especially after it is discovered the wars in question are predicated on lies. For Feith and his neocon buddies, though, this sort of approval is not only irrelevant. It is counterproductive. Feith’s role at the Pentagon was to invent lies and get an invasion of Iraq rolling.

Here's the new neocon talking points we're going to be hearing for the next few weeks. Here's one point in all this the neocons won't be talking up.

This would, naturally, feed into the other neocon pet project — emboldening and further arming the supposed rebels in Syria who are, in fact, the same guys as those now marching on Baghdad. Boot and the neocons, of course, like to pretend, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary, that U.S. arms and largess is going only to “moderates” when it is in fact dispensed to al-Nusra and other jihadists.

Washington is funding and arming both sides. This is what the neocons call "creative destruction".

It's pretty obvious who benefits most from this "policy". Isn't it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y06NSBBRtY

Let the talking points begin. :type:

"Creative destruction is our middle name, both within our own society and abroad. We tear down the old order every day, from business to science, literature, art, architecture, and cinema to politics and the law. Our enemies have always hated this whirlwind of energy and creativity, which menaces their traditions (whatever they may be) and shames them for their inability to keep pace. Seeing America undo traditional societies, they fear us, for they do not wish to be undone. They cannot feel secure so long as we are there, for our very existence—our existence, not our politics—threatens their legitimacy. They must attack us in order to survive, just as we must destroy them to advance our historic mission."

War industry stands to make billions off isis threat

Good chance military hardware will end up in the hands of Islamic terror group

In the war business, timing is everything.

For instance, timing appears to be a factor in the ISIS advance in Iraq and the dysfunctional Iraqi government’s response to it, at least for the war industry.

Last month it was announced a few outstanding members of the military-industrial complex would stand to rake in around a billion dollars if an arms sale to the Iraqi government was approved by Congress.

Considering the current situation in Iraq and alarm bells echoing through the halls of Congress, the sale will undoubtedly go through without a hitch.

On Monday AllGov.com posted details of the sale to the floundering Shia regime in Baghdad:

CORPORATE MEDIA TURBO-CHARGES WAR ON TERROR HOMELAND THREAT

The media in the United States is beginning to ramp up the fear quotient as ISIS moves closer to overtaking Baghdad and northern Iraq.

Following remarks over the weekend by the infamous neocon from South Carolina, Senator Lindsey Graham, that the United States faces it next 9/11 at the hands of the well-organized and armed (courtesy Saudi Arabia and the CIA) ISIS terror group, CBS News today asks if the group will plan a “9/11-style” terror attack in the U.S.

“The seeds of 9/11s are being planted all over Iraq and Syria,” Graham warned on Face the Nation. “They want an Islamic caliphate that runs through Syria and Iraq… and they plan to drive us out of the Mideast by attacking us here at home.”

“You’ve got motivation mixed with opportunity, ideology and foreign fighters and all of that looks like a very extreme version of Afghanistan in the ’90s, plus what was happening in Iraq after the Iraq war,” said CBS News National Security Analyst Juan Zarate. “This is a cauldron of future terrorist threats to the west.”

If we are to accurately weigh this commentary, we will need look at Mr. Zarate’s background. He runs the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a think tank rife over the years with a rotating roster of insiders, including Zbigniew Brzezinski, Henry Kissinger, the neocon Michael Ledeen, Admiral Thomas Moorer, and others. It is funded in part by the billionaire heir to the Mellon family, Richard Scaife, who has murky connections to the CIA. Zarate’s organization also has connections to the Ford Foundation, which may as well be a branch office of the CIA.

Notice how Lindsey Graham isn't saying anything about how he and his fellow congress critters have been funding and arming the Saudi's proxy terrorist army (currently going under the name "isis") in Libya and Syria?

U.S. Ignored ISIS Threat to Hype Endless War On Terror

    Kurt Nimmo

The corporate media, taking its cues in part from Foreign Policy, a magazine formerly owned by the misnamed Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, insists the gains of ISIS in Iraq took the establishment by surprise.

“We got caught flat-footed. Period,” Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, described as a terrorism analyst and senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, who supposedly studies ISIS and other al Qaeda-linked groups, told the magazine last week. Gartenstein-Ross claims U.S. intelligence had no idea “ISIS was about to mount a major offensive to take over two more cities simultaneously.”

“The intelligence agencies’ inability to predict the latest crisis in Iraq is likely to fuel critics of the Obama administration’s management of other global crises, including in Syria and Ukraine,” Shane Harris writes for FP.

    < snip >

Ignored amidst all this feigned ignorance is the fact ISIS keeps books like an anal-retentive accountant. In March, the organization published al-Naba, its annual report. “The Arabic language report, over 400 pages long, was first published by the I’tisaam Media Foundation, ISIS’s main media arm, and then re-posted online by secondary sources,”Alex Bilger writes for the Institute for the Study of War. “This report is the second known ISIS report publicizing the results of their military campaign in Iraq.”

The repeated publication of consecutive annual reports indicates that the ISIS military command in Iraq has exercised command and control over a national theater since at least early 2012. ISIS in Iraq is willing and able to organize centralized reporting procedures and to publish the results of its performance to achieve organizational effects. Such organizational effects might include attracting the attention of potential donors to ISIS’s cause and also showing off an increasingly structured organization capable of more than just attacking haphazardly.

Despite the supposed befuddlement of Hillary Clinton and U.S. intelligence agencies chewing through billions of dollars per year in the supposed effort to protect the American people from al-Qaeda bad guys, the report “describes its campaign for Ninewa as a main effort.”

This scenario was so predictable when Bush sent the troops in. Why did no one in his administration know anything about the history of that region? I cannot believe that Ross and others are experts if they could not see this coming. May God forgive our arrogance and ignorance.

Then why hasn't Obama corrected that mistake and simply withdrawn all troops and resources from the area?

Not to worry - one part of this peace loving religion is going to come together with another part of the peace loving religion to slit each others peace loving's throat. What is more natural than that?

You do realize that the article Poncho posted was referencing the current administration? You do realize that you just made a comparison between Obama and Bush that basically says Bush and Obama are equally stupid?

Obama has had every chance to correct Bush's mistakes; but, if I use what you've said here, he's making all the same ones.

When do you stop blaming Bush and hold Obama accountable for his own mistakes, especially when they're the same ones as Bush's?

Blowback! U.S. trained ISIS at secret Jordan base

JERUSALEM – Members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIS, were trained in 2012 by U.S. instructors working at a secret base in Jordan, according to informed Jordanian officials.

The officials said dozens of ISIS members were trained at the time as part of covert aid to the insurgents targeting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria. The officials said the training was not meant to be used for any future campaign in Iraq.

The Jordanian officials said all ISIS members who received U.S. training to fight in Syria were first vetted for any links to extremist groups like al-Qaida.

In February 2012, WND was first to report the U.S., Turkey and Jordan were running a training base for the Syrian rebels in the Jordanian town of Safawi in the country’s northern desert region.

That report has since been corroborated by numerous other media accounts.

Last March, the German weekly Der Spiegel reported Americans were training Syrian rebels in Jordan.

This is no mistake on Bush or Obama's part. This is what our Saudi allies and the insane neocon policy wonks want. This is divide and conquer, order out of chaos and problem reaction solution all rolled into one.

This is not going as planned:

IRAQ PRIME MINISTER DEFIES US, ACCUSES SAUDI ARABIA OF “GENOCIDE”

Shortly after the US revealed that, in addition to aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships it was also sending a few hundred "special forces" on the ground in Iraq, contrary to what Obama had stated previously, Washington made quite clear it wants Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to embrace Sunni politicians as a condition of U.S. support to fight a lightning advance by forces from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Then something unexpected happened: Iraq's Shi'ite rulers defied Western calls on Tuesday to reach out to Sunnis to defuse the uprising in the north of the country, declaring a boycott of Iraq's main Sunni political bloc and accusing Sunni power Saudi Arabia of promoting "genocide."

In fact, as Reuters reported moments ago, the Shi'ite prime minister has moved in the opposite direction of Obama's demands, announcing a crackdown on politicians and officers he considers "traitors" and lashing out at neighbouring Sunni countries for stoking militancy.

Not only did Iraq defy the US, but it also called out America's BFF (or at least formerly so until the arrival of Iran, which the US is aggressively, and inexplicably, rushing to make its new key partner in the region) for being the real aggressor behind the scenes? How dare Maliki point out the truth - doesn't he know that those US troops in Iraq can just as easily be used to depose the current regime as "fight" the Al Qaeda Jihadists the US itself armed in the first place?

Apparently not, and instead of seeking a broad coalition with Sunnis as the US ordered, the latest target of his government's fury was Saudi Arabia, the main Sunni power in the Gulf, which funds Sunni militants in neighbouring Syria but denies it is behind ISIL.

"We hold them responsible for supporting these groups financially and morally, and for the outcome of that - which includes crimes that may qualify as genocide: the spilling of Iraqi blood, the destruction of Iraqi state institutions and historic and religious sites," the Iraqi government said of Riyadh in a statement.

As Reuters notes, Maliki has blamed Saudi Arabia for supporting militants in the past, but the severe language was unprecedented.
