Coulter makes some good points in this article. Seems that everywhere we turn we are told by the liberal media that we should love soccer.

 I've heard this "Soccer is a communist conspiracy" claptrap before. No one "tells us" to love soccer. It's a great sport, and the conservative media is equally enthusiastic about our performance in the World Cup.

Coulter is absolutely wrong when she claims "Individual achievement is not a big factor in soccer." Look at Renaldo's two goals yesterday for Portugal. His team was already, for practicalities' sake, eliminated, yet he continued to strive to be the best. If not for his goals, the U.S. would be coming home today, instead of playing Tuesday in the knockout round against Belgium, whom we have an excellent opportunity to beat to move on to the quarterfinals.

Look at Tim Howard's excellent goalkeeping yesterday for the U.S. If not for him, Germany scores four, maybe five goals, humiliates and disheartens us, and likely sets us up to fail against Belgium. Instead we have momentum, having survived "The Group of Death" when no one in the world thought we would, and are on the weak side of the bracket, giving us a shot at the semifinals.
That Coulter should stick to political commentary and let sports be reported by people who understand them.

And perhaps, that if you don't like soccer, don't watch it? That will leave more for the rest of us.

Tim Howard is one of the great goal keepers in world football. He proved that yesterday. The US has survived one of the toughest 'groups of death' in World Cup history.

The anti soccer crowd need not attack a sport they don't understand.

That's right. It is one of the many facets of the globalist conspiracy funded by the IMF.

Whenever Ann Coulter opens her mouth I stop listening. She's simply proving she's wrong on a new subject matter. At least she's consistent.

 Maybe if it were less popular, I could have watched the entire game outside on my patio instead of having issues with the ESPN site being overwhelmed.

As the Brazilian saying goes, Soccer, more aptly named Football as they really use their feet, is "the beautiful game."

Watch and see the teamwork that is required. It is a beautiful game. Yes, there are superstars, but without teamwork they are nothing.

Also it is not an expensive sport for kids. A couple of sticks for the goal and a ball ... or as I saw from a clip from Ghana a bunch of plastic bags put together to make a ball ... and the kids are ready to play.

The feed repeatedly stopped and had trouble getting it back up. No problems with other content.

Okay, if you say so. http://www.mail.com/in-en/sports/soccer/2898840-karl-marx-statue-world-cup-makeover.html

Coulter is right on, this is all about politics, and about being complacent with mediocracy. Just further attempts at brainwashing of the American people and sissifying the culture.

Fine with me, you can keep your sissy sport. :tongue3:

    Oh, for the luvah ...

So what??? Did you bother reading the story associated with the picture?
They're far more soccer -- or "futbol" fans :tongue3: -- than they are Marx fans. In fact, doesn't appear they're Marx fans at all, much less communists. Your photo proves the exact opposite of what you'd hoped, once the story is known.
Spoken by someone -- both you and Coulter -- who has never played the game, doesn't understand the game, and is going around with blinders on and fingers in ears so as not to become educated about the sports origins, which are as much from the U.S. as they are anywhere else. From what do you think American football evolved? And this is another inane statement:
Tell Clint Dempsey, who has played two and a half games with a broken nose, that he's a "sissy." Let me know when you do. I want to be standing by with my HTC ONE camera phone.

So, in Ann Coulter's world a "real sport" is where individuals excel and the team happens to win? Achievement is not fumbling passes, dropping fly balls, and striking out. That's called failure. She needs to get a pre-paid clue card.

Exactly. They've been tearing down statues of communists in Germany for years now. This might be one of the few left standing. The futbol fans were having some fun with it.

Or let's see Thousand Hills run up and down a pitch for 45 minutes so he can see how sissified the game is.

    Nice celly.

People who hold to the view that soccer is un-American and all politics -- whether tongue-in-cheek or unbelievably seriously -- should know a few facts:
    • The United States Men's National Team was first formed in 1885, and won its first four international games
    • The U.S. finished third at the first World Cup in 1930, which still remains the highest finish by a non-European or South American national team.
    • In 1950, the U.S. men defeated Englahd 1-0 in the World Cup's first round, the English national team of that year being perhaps the best of any national team any time anywhere. It beat an all-star "rest of Europe" team 6-1 a few weeks before the World Cup began in Brazil.
    • When the U.S. hosted the World Cup in 1994, it defeated Costa Rica, ranked number four in the world, 1-0, pulled off a 1-1 draw with Switerland and downed Colombia 2-1 9partially thanks to an "own goal" by Andres Escobar of Colombia) to qualify for the knowckout round, losing to eventual World Cup champion Brazil.
Forbes has a great piece on how Coulter "lost her mind" criticizing soccer, and apparently she went so far as to say that the acceptance of soccer in the U.S. is a "sign of moral decay." As Forbes said, that's probably not really insanity. It's just good marketing for her brand as Ann Coulter. Problem is, she ticked off a lot of conservatives who love soccer and realize she's clueless about the game.

By the way, I have no problem being equally crazed about soccer as I am about American football, baseball, basketball and hockey. Ask my wife. There is no "down time" for the sports channels in our house.

I am not sure where this piece is given any kind of serious consideration. It is one of the most illogical pieces I have seen.
