Mexican police helicopter crosses border, opens fire

    It has been twenty years since I was given rules of engagement in a military setting. But the basic idea was we could open fire if there was an obvious threat to U.S. personnel or property. We were not allowed live rounds in the weapon until such a threat became apparent. Of course the rules varied according to the theatre of operations. There are situations where you load and lock and keep a finger on the safety when on patrol.

    Letting an unidentified helicopter to get within range without taking cover is a serious breach in security practice. All unidentified personnel/equipment are considered aggressors until proven otherwise. There are no friendlies on the other side of the line.

    Our Border Patrol are too busy changing diapers and feeding kids to worry about attack helicopters our border.
