Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Why is Christ referred to as the "firstborn of every creature?

Well, for me, the next verse sort of explains it.

Jesus is God. Jesus is also the only begotten Son of God. And Jesus is the Creator.

Firstborn to me implies that Jesus is not created, but "begotten" by God and that Jesus, in His "firstbornness" of God (and also being God) rules over all of His creation with sovereignty.

"firstborn of every creature" implies His pre-immeninence over all things. (I can't spell that word and spell-checker isn't helping me!! But I know what it means.)

The meaning and use of “firstborn” is a confirmation of Jesus being called “the only-begotten Son of God”.

“He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible (Father) God, the firstborn over all creation.” (Colossians 1:15).
“prototokos” (firstborn) here means Jesus was “the first cause, the source of creation”.

Jesus being the source of creation is verified in the very next verse:
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth …” (Colossians 1:16).

Jesus being the source of creation is also verified in this verse:
“These things says the Amen (Jesus Christ), the Faithful and True Witness,
the Beginning of the creation of God …” (Revelation 3:14)

Some Scripture verses say Jesus was the creator of all things, and other verses say
Father God created everything “through” Jesus. Either way, Jesus did the creating!

“firstborn from the (spiritually) dead” (Colossians 1:18, Revelation 1:5)

“For whom He (Father God) foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to
the image of His Son, that He (Jesus) might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:29)

Jesus holds the place of honor and pre-eminence among all who have been,
are now, and will be, “born again” spiritually … raised up to inherit eternal life.

“… that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead,
and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.” (Acts 26:23)

I guess I need to answer this trick qvestion.

Jesus was The First (with a human body) to be truly born-again (with the Holy Spirit inside).
(Some of the OT prophets thought God's Spirit came inside them when they were temporarily prophesying).

All born-again Christians who receive likewise are expected to follow Jesus' example on how to live on this earth.
That means being obedient to His commands.
Since we are not sinless like He was ...
we are invited to have our sins cleansed by Jesus' precious blood via 1 John 1:7--2:1.

Why did Jesus need to be born again?
    How was Jesus born again?

First born as in first in honor -- "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us" -- taking on the form of a man.

The incarnation makes Christ a member of His own Creation while still being fully God.

    in Christ,

    Bob

Your answer is very similar to this one:

How do you account for that?

Jesus did ALL kinds of stuff that He didn't need to do for Himself.
Jesus did ALL kinds of stuff that He needed to do for us!
In this case, He needed to be baptized by John where He received everything!
In this case, He needed to show us what to do ... to copy Him.
Although I admit I'm on shaky ground here.

    However, this stands true ...
Jesus was The First (with a human body) to have the Holy Spirit inside "forever" (John 14:16).

I have a very extensive library of copy and pastes gathered from many places.
Some people may like to reinvent the wheel over and over again, but not me.
From what I recall, that evangelist guy was all over the place.

Are you saying Jesus was "born again" when he was baptized?

    Don't know.
I do know He was fully God and fully man!
Maybe his Fully Man had to be born again, but probably not.
    Way too deep for me!

I learned quite a lot from him, that's for sure.
Just as I've learned a lot from many Spirit-filled Christians.
You would do well to follow suit.

If it is way to deep for you why did you post:
You are the one that claimed he had to be born again.
I am just asking you when and where he was born again.
If he was born again as you say, then when did it happen?

Jesus is "First-Begotten-of-God" means He is God Most Important—“the First begotten of God” who became the God-Man who is the Man Jesus who is God.

Jesus is "First-Begotten-of-God" means He is GOD : God, the Man Jesus - the Man Jesus, God who “in full Fellowship of the Trinity*”, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, is God.
    [* Klaas Schilder]

But above all Christ Jesus BECAME the "First-Begotten-of-God" BY RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD : “IN THE FLESH” so that “he who denies Christ CAME IN THE FLESH (from the dead) is anti-Christ” and Christ denying as God denying.

    Therefore "First-Begotten-of-God" means Jesus
is God The Begotten of God :
    is Essentially God:
    is THIS God :
    incarnated and therefore :
    is THIS God-Incarnate :
    is THIS God-Man :
is THIS Man, THIS God in every respect :
    … as confessed :
“conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of Mary :
HAVING BEEN RAISED from the dead THIS "the First-Begotten-of-God", Jesus Christ, IS God :
    Is THIS God
“Who shall Come Again” "the First-Begotten-of-God" “IN FLESH … INCORRUPTIBLE”.
