Most here reject WOTM but probably in ignorance and stubbornness. I was reading a story of a Christian whom sent a letter to Ray and just slammed him and made some of the arguments that people on this board make. But a few months later he write back and said that since he actually tried using it he started to love it! So my question for you is. Have you been to the streets or actually tried using the Law on people? If you are looking for results do not use WOTM, for Jesus said to Peter that flesh and blood did not reveal things to him so be aware that only God can grant faith and repentance on his elect and Ray made clear of this View in this book.

I have not brought anyone to Christ in all my years, but maybe God has brought thousands via my efforts.

Yes, and I quickly abandoned it. I'm sure it works well for others, but it simply doesn't work for me.

    Unfounded accusation.

Yes, because if he had written back and said he tried WOTM and he still didn't like it, they never would have read his letter on the air.

No, but in my days as a young believer I used the Romans Road. I don't do that anymore, though. I prefer to ask people if they think they'd go to Heaven if they were to die and then tell me why or why not. From there I can have the Holy Spirit lead me into how to present the gospel. I use no set methodology like WOTM..

When I look at the great sermons by Peter, Stephen, and Paul detailed in the book of Acts I don't see WOTM being used. When I look at early Billy Graham rallies on TV, I don't see WOTM being used. I doubt the Calvinistic preachers like Jonathan Edwards and Charles Spurgeon used WOTM. Yet all of these preachers have had great responses to their preaching.

Furthermore, if WOTM should not be used because it doesn't get results, then it should not be used! Pretty simple. Why would God not show results to faithful preachers of his Word? There is a pattern of it happening throughout the Bible.

The problem with this statement is that, according to your soteriology, these people were elected since before the foundation of the world. They didn't need you to preach for them to be saved because God had predestined them to irresistible grace. For them it was a done deal from eternity past.

Frankly, if I was using a particular "method" of presenting the gospel and I never saw results, I would take that as a message from God that it is a flawed presentation and move on to something else.

Personally, I can see where WOTM can be an effective presentation of the gospel, but there is no "one size fits all" technique.

Nope. After watching about 10 minutes of the videos, I wanted nothing whatsoever to with it, him or any of the hangers on.

How dare you not use WOTM! It doesn't work, so why not use it?

I have used it, along with other methods. I don't see anything wrong with it, especially because the Bible even says that the law is our 'schoolmaster'.

I don't think you can use the same exact method for each person you witness to though. Everyone is different...and Christ didn't use the same method each time. He used different parables and objects. Sometimes He used compassion, other times rebuke.

You just have let the Holy Spirit guide you! :)

I've used it quite a bit. Though I have now moved away from it because of theological differences.

The general principle of using law (Not necessarily the 10 commandments though) to demonstrate the need for a savior is sound though, IMO.

One method is just as good as the other. Choosing one or the other is nothing more than personal preference.

No I agree with Lordship. I simply disagree that the 10 Commandments are the "moral law." The great majority of their tracts say that it is so I cannot in good conscience use them. Also I disagree with their instance on the formula in every conversation, though I agree that can help the newbie to have confidence in their ability to share the gospel.

True they are not exactly Calvinist. Compare his books to evangelism books written by Reformed and Calvinist authors and see the difference. However he is still very good. But no doubt I agree that while the LAW is great way to witness, God is not bound to only this method.

I'm not sure where you saw Calvinism in anything I said?

You are right to say that God is not bound by this method, but Ray has, at least in the past, said his method is the only biblical method. I disagree. Nothing against Ray personally, he's a nice guy, I just think he's wrong there.

No Calvinist in his right mind would agree on that, because of their view on God's sovereignty in salvation. Ray Comfort is not a Calvinist.

OK I'm genuinely confused. No Calvinist would agree to what? That WOTM is the only biblical method? I would hope no Arminian would agree to that either.

WOTM is the best method of evangelism in my POV, however God can bring His elect to salvation via anyway He chooses.

Of course he can. I'm still confused on how we got on the topic of Calvinism though...

How can you make this statement right after telling RevMitchell he was wrong for basically saying the same thing?

His methods are not Biblical ones. When I said good methods I was talking about lets say using a John MacArthur or a John Piper method verse a Ray Comfort method. These methods are Biblical methods. Mitchell's methods are "easy-believism" in nature and he is a proponent of "cheap grace." Mitchell would be for alter calls and the sinners prayer of which I am against. If I am understanding him correctly.

Mac's Gospel Tract and evangelism book differs from that of Comfort in that Mac does not use the 10 Commandments.
Piper's gospel tract and books are different than Mac's & Comfort but he does advocate Biblical methods.
