Today, I heard him referred to as the Fund-raiser-in-chief. This came from a nationally syndicated radio talk show, that is complaining about his being back in California, for the third fund raising trip in less than three months!

In fact, he has made 74 fundraising trips in 2014.

SO, here are my questions: Why does the taxpayer foot the bill for a POTUS to travel about, raising money for his party?

Or, does the party reimburse the taxpayer for said trips and use of Air Force One, secret service, local and statre police, hotels, food, etc.?

Finally does it seem fair that any POTUS use presidential time to raise funds for their party, especially in time of crisis?

My understanding is that the POTUS will reimburse the govt the price of a average business class ticket - if the trip is not for official business.

But lets say he does make an official trip - then does the fun raising on the side........

also I think I read that newsmen must pay the govt to ride on Air force one.
Looking for link - haven't found it yet, will try later.

All of them do it, be best if they didn't but a limit might be good since I've read Obama had done almost double what Bush did. Limit number at least, ban it at best. Of course official trips will jump so they can do it on the side.

Sure will because that's just what they do. They'll put up a good front for the American people so that you know they are against this. And then they'll strike some backroom deal that allows them to keep right on as is.

Obama outnumbers Bush in fund Rasing Trips!

"Obama has outpaced his predecessor in fundraising, having attended 395 fundraisers during his presidency as of this week. According to Knoller's statistics, then-President George W. Bush attended 217 at the same point in his second term.

The 395 is more than Bush attended during his entire presidency."

That is a whopping 178 more trips, and he has two years remaining!

Maybe Fund-Raiser-in-Chief is a good nickname?

Should POTUS Be Limited in Fund Raisers?

I am insensed to read that Obama has made 395 fund raising trips, thus far in his presidency. I was also insensed to read that Bush had done 217 in the same time frame while in office.

I think these guys need to be doing the work; we elected them to do, and let their party, present dignitaries and past party presidents and leaders do the fund-raising to leave the POTUS the time need to fix the problems in the nation, with the economy and build strong and positive foreign relations!

These numbers are appalling to say the least. As a state government worker I had to complete, submit and have approved every year, a conflict of interest report, isting any voluntary or paid jobs outside my state employment hours.

I knew several employees who were fired for working second jobs [evenings], and a supervisor docked a month's pay and moved down one pay grade for going to Obama's (2008) rallies and handing out leaflets on the weekends and evenings!

If the employees of the government who do the grunts work are not allowed to do things during, after or whatever around their hours of employment, why should a POTUS or other elected officials be exempt?

400 fundraising events and 182 golf trips--he is a busy man and it is no wonder that he has to go on vacation soon to Cape Cod. People like Obama as long as they don't have to listen to one of his boring speeches so he tries to keep out of the way.

    Obama's Deli visit ....

News reported tonight that because Obama made a stop at a local LA deli and met with four concerned citizens, complete with a photo OP, he didn't have to re-imburse the federal government for the entire four day fund raising trip!

    We are really being fleeced!
