    Am watching Judge Judy - the defendant is on welfare $1100 per month, + 800 per month for food stamps ( 5 kids) evidently a single parents and at least 2 mothers involved. He also stated he is an auto mechanic, but only does some work on the side for friends - and does the work in his brothers auto shop.
    Do you think Judge Judy has a responsibility to notify the county welfare office in Buffalo, NY of this guy working under the table - and who apparently has a skill which would provide a suitable income.
    He is suing the landlord to get his rent money back since he thinks the house is not up to livable standards.

    If he's able to work and on welfare then he needs to be reported. End of subject.

    If he did not think it up to standard, why did he pay the rent?

    As described, sounds like someone who is working the system.

    I believe it was stated that Welfare sent the rent check directly to the landlord.

    Yes, but by working he would be loosing a lot more. Not justifying the situation - just pointing out the errors of the system.

    2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

    So much to say here...:saint::tongue3::laugh:

    From what I've seen of the show, she has no actual legal jurisdiction over these matters. She, like Judge Wapner etc, is just a tv personality, though with previous legal experience and still part of the NY Bar if I'm thinking correctly.

    Anyways, the parties sign a document they they agree to uphold whatever decision she makes. Then, they go through these cases. They're a train wreck as one of my lawyer friends says. But her ruling is binding for the.

    Now, I don't think she needs to report him. If this is an actual case, which might be doubtful, being on TV ain't gonna help the man. Its kind of a self-reporting thing I guess.

    Usually don't watch Judy -

    Legally she is a mediator. And look at it this way - it is a case that does not take up the local small claims court.

    Lets hope some official in Buffalo was watching
