….But a number of Christian denominations have already taken significant steps towards liberalizing their stances on homosexuality and marriage, and the evidence so far seems to indicate that affirming homosexuality is hardly a cure for membership woes. On the contrary, every major American church that has taken steps towards liberalization of sexual issues has seen a steep decline in membership…..

One thing that I learned when I was in grad school was to be especially wary of what one reads in the media, be it in print, broadcast, or digital format, as being 100% true.

IOW, just because an article appears in the media, one should not accept what it tells you as being absolutely the "honest truth."

While I support the concept of having freedom of the press, that doesn't mean that I agree with whatever a writer puts forth as being the only way to view whatever he/she tells me.

IMHO, it's always best to ask yourself whether or not there could possibly another way to look at and/or evaluate what is being stated in an article.

In the case of the article referenced in the OP, it is obvious that it has a rather biased viewpoint towards the pro-g@y agenda---an agenda that I seriously doubt is shared by few of us here on BB.

I'd venture to say that, if you read the entire article, most of us here on BB would be able to detect that bias quite readily---and probably very quickly also reject its viewpoint.

Every one of us is bound to have a certain bias for or against different viewpoints. I, for one, would be one of the first to stand up and defend your right to express your opinion(s) on whatever matter is up for discussion.

OTOH, that, per se, doesn't mean that I agree with what you believe.

    'Nuff said.

So it would appear that affirming homosexual/Lesbian Agenda in a church quicker then denying the Cross/Bible, in losing membership, eh?

    I thought.....

.....this was one of those one-liners: How to shrink Your Church in One Easy Step - Remove some pews or chairs?

Great topic. I can tell you right know, that any Biblcal World View believer that went to a church that started preaching those ideals would see me gone in 60 seconds.

Bro. Curtis..., not wanting to discount away any of your thunder here but I've found over the years that a very effective and efficient way to shrink one's church is by not allowing any one outside the founding family the opportunity to participate..., at all..., short of their tithing.

...besides, according to Ethel and Elroy, "this isn't the way we did it back in '42. Back when Great Grandpa and Pearlie the mule began working to clear the land so as to build the church to begin with."

No, you can't just turn people loose in church but effectuating even the smallest "change" is 'bout as hard as pulling hens teeth.

Affirming that agenda is denying the Bible. I suppose one could also make a case that it is denying the Cross as well (in the sense that those saved are redeemed and indwelt by the Spirit).

I understand that aspect, but does seem that churches actually would more people in this culture if they denied 'gay agenda", then if they denied the Cross or person of Jesus...

When i read the title i was quite intrigued. I was wondering how will the church actually shrink. But yes this issue is quite delicate. LGBT individuals, say "they will reconsider church if denominations remove their restrictions on gay marriage and ordination." So does this mean they are actually doing a favor by going to church .

Ohhhhhhh Jon, up here in the north country you would be excoriated by the multitudes of secular humanists for such a "religious " posture....probably even loose your job and be tagged a intolerant homophobic racist nutjob.

    Lol...care to plant a church here.

I'm not exactly certain what it is that you don't see. Is it something in my post that you don't see, or is it something in the article that the OP referenced that you don't see?

Or, maybe it's something else that you don't see.

At any rate, feel free to PM me about this if you care to do so.
