There IS NO DIFFERENCE between what he said and what Muslim extremists have said to people in Iraq. Now this foolishness of liberal vs conservative, Democrat vs Republican will cause some to continue to play partisan politics and attempt to excuse his comments.

But he professes to be a Christian. If so he needs to stop trying to mix Christ with his politics because it doesn't work.

Either love them as you love yourself as a Christian and leave it at that. Or let the government do what the government does and leave it at that.

But there is NOTHING, no matter how anyone attempts to qualify his words, of Christ in convert them or kill them.

    It was disgusting.

It might be okay for a politician and someone mired in partisan politics. But it's not okay for God's people.

You expressed no previous outrage at Islamic theology and yet you are outraged at a theoretical analogy that clearly is tongue in cheek. Get real.

Exactly what I thought when I saw this story. And bonus--he looks like an Islamic extremist with his hair/beard styling.

    Yep.

    Yep.

So Fox News is now using Phil Robertson as a correspondant on the issues with ISIS? How could that possibly go wrong?

    The sanctimonious saint strikes again....

One difference between you and Phil. He has a lucrative television contract, and you are bound by the small audience of this board. Not only do you like to judge others .... your jealous spirit has raised its ugly head, once again, and again, and again :applause: :applause: :applause:

Can you ever say something nice about another? WWJD? Remember the pharisee's were judged and await hell.

No, he appeared on Hannity according to the thread and Hannity is not News but opinion and Hannity is close friends with Duck Dynasty and the comment was sarcastic.

I can understand what he is saying being both a Christian and a US citizen (veteran).

If they can't/won't be saved then we will have to eliminate them (understanding of course that means if they come here to the states to take off our heads).

Maybe it means I am not a worthy Christian but I certainly couldn't stand idly by if these monsters came down my country road killing, raping, maiming and decapitating innocent women and children.

I really don't know how far down my road they would make it anyway before meeting their god via a hail of lead.

Then it was one of the most stupid, sarcastic comments of all time. As someone professing to be a Christian, you just cannot put stuff like that out there.

Yeah, it goes against the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Man and the Neighborhood of Martha's Vineyard.

But no one is saying stand idly by anymore than you would if someone was breaking into your home.

This modern day brand of evangelical, conservative Christianity has a bloodlust problem that goes against the love, grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.

This thread is what happens when people spread gossip because a liberal news website wanted to bash a conservative and no one else checked out the details for themselves.

This thread is what happens when "politically conservative news organizations" invite their "politically conservative" friends on to comment on things they should probably just keep quiet about.

Sarcasm or not, he said what he said. And neither the Muslim world nor anyone else who hears the comment, no matter how much political conservative want to now explain it away, are gonna care about an explanation.

They heard a so called Christian say "Convert them or kill them". Get the tape, play it again and again on Al Jazeera and every other Islamic media outlet.

It was a stupid, stupid comment to make, to play with or otherwise.

The world is bigger than the US. And some Christians actually minister in the Muslim world and simply don't need the added stumbling block of a purported Christian saying "convert them or kill them".

But it did get peoples attention!!!!

Adding to what Hank D said (but I certainly couldn't stand idly) - the question is not IF they come - its WHEN do they come.

And having watched the video, there appeared to be nothing of sarcasm in his answer.

So ain't no one jumping to conclusions except the ones trying to excuse what he said.

His own response to Sean shows the foolishness of his comment. As if anyone is going to listen to you trying to tell them about a Jesus who saves when you make a comment about convert or kill or that maybe the time for talking to them has passed.

It is an extremely wicked thing.

Sure did cause all over the world folks are commenting "wait, isn't that what ISIS said to the folks in Iraq"?

We deal with personal situations as they arise. We should not have to politicize them.

No one is ever gonna fault you for protecting your family. But it's when CHRISTIANS or folks who say they are Christians start saying the same things and acting like the lost people that others take notice.

But this again goes back to politics diseasing the church and making people think that they can present themselves as a lover of Jesus and a lover of all things political at the same time.

As a possible Christian, he could have easily told Sean that the answer is Jesus Christ and seeing folks come to faith in Christ. But he let the politics in and the politics of this world continue to be at odds with God's word and how HE tells the Christian to act.

His choice of words was unfortunate but there is a scriptural truth involved.

Many of us are or have been either military or law enforcement folks and I believe that in the context of Romans 13 what Phil said may very well be scriptural if he meant that those who are designated to protect us do their job and kill them before they kill us:

    Romans 13
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Again, personally I would use the deadly force I was trained in to protect my family and community. But I do hope and and pray that that day never comes.

But I also believe that ISIS is shrewdly and purposely provoking Obama to take some kind of action so that they can use the forthcoming results as a recruitment propaganda tool to further their cause playing right into their hands.

Darned if we do, darned if we don't.

Hank that is again a mixing of Christianity and politics. God hasn't asked us to kill anyone. Romans 13 is about the authorities that have been placed over us and what they are allowed to do. I believe that some of the things, though allowed, are still sinful like capital punishment, divorce, abortion.
