If we don't act to impose a quarantine on West Africa, Root is correct that business will stand still or collapse. If there is no quarantine, we have to quarantine ourselves to avoid contact with the sick people arriving in our country either by air travel or by crossing our open borders.

Why don't the airlines suspend flights from West Africa? If one of their planes gets contaminated, it will cost bushels of money to clean it up.

Either the West Africans stay home or we stay home.

You would think that some Ivy Leaguers and Democrats would make up a medical charity and go to West Africa and help those people--oh, wait, Ivy Leaguers and Democrats are all about money and power--they'll send the military.

I guess it is wishful thinking. The democrats are so sold out and the republicans are spineless so it will never happen.

When President Obama's term is complete in 27 months, I hope we get a real progressive, like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren. It would be good for the country, and entertaining to hear the continued wailing and gnashing of teeth from the right. :wavey:

It's not just Obama that needs to step down it's the whole illegitimate government we have now should step down. It should either become legitimate by following the constitution and our founding principles or find work in a giant multinational corporation as lobbyists.

That's all they do now anyway.

I'm not sure I'll be able to get my thought across in a manner that'll be taken how I mean it. But I will try.

I don't see the government as illegitimate. Corrupt, probably. Inept, possibly. But we as a nation elected these officials. It's legitimate because we gave it power. We allowed it to take more power than it should have. But it did it legitimately, if unethically.

You don't see the government Sapper. That's the point.

You still seem to think the "elected officials" are at the top of the power structure.

That's not the case at all. You've let the middle man convince you he is the man.

    Read my signature line.

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7

Who is the greater? The banks or the government? Who is the borrower and who is the lender? Which is the greater? Is the bible wrong?

What you see as the government is more like a marketing and sales team.

It's their job to convince us to adopt the policies that are formed by the un-elected governing body. Those who control the money and the narrative, "the greater" in other words.

That's not the president, it's not congress. It's the global banks and multinational corporations. Who is the servant and who is the master? Who is the greater? Is congress the greater for borrowing money from a private banking cartel? Not according to the bible. The private banking cartel is the greater. Or is the bible wrong? It doesn't matter one iota who you elect to hold office in the federal government they are not part of "the greater" they are part of "the borrower" and who is the borrower servant to? The lender! And who is the lender?

Hint: It's not the American people or the voter. We're merely the cash cows in this system of governance that are allowed/encouraged to think that voting for this person or that party is somehow going to change a system of governance that was never meant to be in the first place.

    Illegitimate, look that word up.

Have you ever wondered who actually formulates the policies congress passes into law?

Probably think the congress writes them all up right? Wrong! "Think tanks" do and those "think tanks" are all corporate sponsored and all those corporations are sponsored (who is the greater?) by the global banks. It's all right there in front of you. There's no hidden conspiracy. It's an open, in your face right under your nose conspiracy.

    It's hidden in plain sight.

And it stares you right in the face every time you read from any corporate sponsored "think tank" such as the Brookings Institute, The Heritage Foundation, The CFR, and a number of the other corporate sponsored "think tanks".

We no longer have a republican form of government Sapper. That's gone. What has replaced it is a government of by and for the banks and corporations.

That my very good friend is an illegitimate form of government that we never voted for . And if we did it was because we were hoodwinked into it or we as a nation have become for all intents and purposes become brain dead and can't see what's right in front of our very noses.

Have you ever voted in favor of allowing the multinational corporations to write the laws and come up with the "solutions"?

No you probably voted for a person who's political career depends on how well he or she sells you and I on the idea that government is at the top of the power structure.

So, when you say government you're speaking of the political parasites we keep "voting" into office to serve us, note the use of the word serve because that's their job. To SERVE us, not rule us. And they do neither. They neither serve us nor rule us.

The one's they do serve have taken it upon themselves to rule us through them. Do you get it yet?

Do you understand what form of government we're actually living under? It doesn't sound it to me Sapper.

The people we elect aren’t the ones calling the shots, says Tufts University’s Michael Glennon

THE VOTERS WHO put Barack Obama in office expected some big changes. From the NSA’s warrantless wiretapping to Guantanamo Bay to the Patriot Act, candidate Obama was a defender of civil liberties and privacy, promising a dramatically different approach from his predecessor.

But six years into his administration, the Obama version of national security looks almost indistinguishable from the one he inherited. Guantanamo Bay remains open. The NSA has, if anything, become more aggressive in monitoring Americans. Drone strikes have escalated. Most recently it was reported that the same president who won a Nobel Prize in part for promoting nuclear disarmament is spending up to $1 trillion modernizing and revitalizing America’s nuclear weapons.

Why did the face in the Oval Office change but the policies remain the same? Critics tend to focus on Obama himself, a leader who perhaps has shifted with politics to take a harder line. But Tufts University political scientist Michael J. Glennon has a more pessimistic answer: Obama couldn’t have changed policies much even if he tried.

Though it’s a bedrock American principle that citizens can steer their own government by electing new officials, Glennon suggests that in practice, much of our government no longer works that way. In a new book, “National Security and Double Government,” he catalogs the ways that the defense and national security apparatus is effectively self-governing, with virtually no accountability, transparency, or checks and balances of any kind. He uses the term “double government”: There’s the one we elect, and then there’s the one behind it, steering huge swaths of policy almost unchecked. Elected officials end up serving as mere cover for the real decisions made by the bureaucracy.

This is your real government; they transcend elected administrations, they permeate every political party, and they are responsible for nearly every aspect of the average American and European's way of life. When the "left" is carrying the torch for two "Neo-Con" wars, starting yet another based on the same lies, peddled by the same media outlets that told of Iraqi WMD's, the world has no choice, beyond profound cognitive dissonance, but to realize something is wrong.

What's wrong is a system completely controlled by a corporate-financier oligarchy with financial, media, and industrial empires that span the globe. If we do not change the fact that we are helplessly dependent on these corporations that regulate every aspect of our nation politically, and every aspect of our lives personally, nothing else will ever change.

The following list, however extensive, is by far not all-inclusive. However after these examples, a pattern should become self-evident with the same names and corporations being listed again and again. It should be self-evident to readers of how dangerously pervasive these corporations have become in our daily lives. Finally, it should be self-evident as to how necessary it is to excise these corporations from our lives, our communities, and ultimately our nations, with the utmost expediency.

Do you get it now? Repeat after me, the borrower is servant to the lender, the borrower is servant to the lender, the borrower is servant to the lender . . .

Keep repeating this until it sinks in.

The lender IS greater than the borrower. The hand that gives is ABOVE the hand that takes.

According to the bible, the borrower is servant to the lender. So then if a government, any government borrows money from a private banking cartel that government has become the banking cartel's servant. Get it? It's a very simple concept.

The banks and corporations are our real rulers. Get it?

It should be obvious at this point that as a nation we're at the mercy of the bankers and corporitos.

Imho the only reason people can't or won't make the connection is that if they did they might have to give up the illusion that the borrower is above the lender, and that the whole left vs right paradigm is nothing more than a diversion meant to keep us divided and arguing over our differences instead of doing what it would take to liberate ourselves from those who have enslaved us.

    Abolishing the Federal Reserve!

    It's time to wake up.
