I am not trying to reason with this false teacher but only to proclaim his judgment and call to repentance. I am still in the editing stage of this letter.

I commend you for your zeal! Who knows, God may honor your warnings and they may come to one dark soul who is struggling in God's perfect timing. One thing is for sure, there can be no repentance without first confrontation of what God defines as sin.

Thanks. I had sent letters before in an attempt to reason with the false teachers but only spoke with two of them out of like 21 letters I sent. For my next letters I am changing my approach.

God has gifted me with a number of gospel tracts of all types and a good way to put them to practice is by sending to the false teachers.

"Is this a way to be nice"?

If you have to ask the question, then you already know the answer.

By the way: Use the same rule of thumb: If you received a note written exactly as you've posted above, would you consider it "nice"? Then there's no need to come on a public message board and ask others.

Interesting statement from a guest pastor last night: Am I proclaiming what I've done for God, or am I proclaiming what God has done through me?

    Give it some thought.

Sounds like EV just wants someone to agree with him.

Didn't the last time you got all wired up, and ended up with criminal complaints filed against you for harassment and stalking, not teach you anything?

Did that really happen? We are not called to "force feed" anyone or harass, stalk or pressure anyone!

I never have. This character lies. I simply send one letter and follow up with an email or call and then leave them alone and move onto the best church.

I would say that opening your letter like this:

    TERROR!!

    And then

The false teachers like you will have much darkness and torment...

is not nice. No, it is not.

Did I say you were charged? You have a bad habit of not knowing when you have gone to far. You have a wife now. You can no longer think only of yourself and your obsessive need to attack people. Next time you might not be so lucky.

I have attacked no one but their doctrine so you need to stop with your lies. I have a High level security clearance and have been finger printed, and my background has been thoroughly checked in order to get the clearance level that I have.

Sending a letter to warn apostate churches of hell and their need to repent is a caring thing to do. Even Ray Comfort says the same. I have a dozen tracts of all types and a great way to use them is like this.

With so many apostate churches in Denver I have no time for those that reject the message but will continue to send letters to as many as I can, just like I will continue to witness to as many as I can in the area.

What word should I use then instead? The horrors of Hell will be far worse than terror.

I don't think he was really talking about the word "terror." I think the words "like you" is what led to the negative reaction.

Seriously, John; do you want someone sending a letter to YOU that says you're a false teacher? Would you consider that "nice"?

And frankly, opening a message with "TERROR" sounds like a Jack Chick comic tract.

I would try another approach that emphasizes the error of preaching another gospel, that being the pastor has much responsibility to know and preach the truth. You hit on that a little bit in your letter.

I would drop the fire and brimstone confrontational style. I'm sure a gay pastor has seen and heard it all before. He's apt to chuckle and throw your letter into the trash. But if you can plant a seed of doubt that maybe he's letting his personal feelings on h@m@s@xuality cause him to interpret scripture wrongly, you can start a dialogue with him.

I have had people call me false yes but they did not want to reason and preached no grace so their comments were ignored. This person I am open to reason and did preach the cross in my letter followed with a John Piper tract.

Also the bible is not about my self-esteem but about God. The holiness of God is at stake with false gospels. Besides Jesus nor John the Baptist were nice.

I tried that approach and avoided the fire and brimstone with others but my letters got ignored and they never responded to my follow up email so they did not want to reason.

So can you write a letter and post it here on how you would do it? I have another gay pastor to write and am open to new styles of evangelism.

I will? I don't know these people. I won't write the letter but I could give you some pointers.

    1. You need an opening line that will get them to keep reading. Perhaps something from your own experience about an issue you thought you were absolutely correct about, but later decided you were wrong about, like KJVO or teetotalism. Then transition into an issue that you think he should look into, like why he doesn't preach on sin.

    Example:
In my Christian journey some of my most closely held beliefs have been challenged. After examining the issues, I came away with a different perspective on some things. One of these things was King James Onlyism, the belief that only the King James Version of the Bible was the Word of God, all others were corrupt versions. But after much study God changed my mind.

I'm trying to learn new things. I've noticed from your website that you don't preach on sin and repentance very much. These are important issues, in my opinion, and are mentioned quite frequently in the Bible. I'm wondering why you don't preach on these things?

    2. Write from your heart. Avoid accusations. Be inquisitive as to the reasons for his beliefs. Get him to think he's the one that's going to school you.

    3. Ask for a follow up. A phone call. A face-to-face visit. Example: "I'd like to know your reasons for not preaching on sin, can we sit down and talk about it?"

Enclose a tract if you like, with maybe a note saying "while not a comprehensive explanation, this tract explains my basic position on this issue". I would not put any Jack Chick tracts in your letter!
