What a wonderful message to those who believe racism is still hindering blacks from getting ahead in America. The win by Love in Utah was a great win for the voters in Utah, as much as it was for her.

Do you agree that her being elected as the first black woman in that state, puts to rest the DNC argument that the GOP has a war on women and against blacks?

This is great day for women and blacks in Utah!

Racism does still hinder blacks from getting ahead in America. Thankfully, it is going away.

I didn't know who this woman was, and I didn't know she was black. Is she a Republican or a Democrat? What are here policy positions? [I Googled, she's a Rep.]

Do I agree that the election of a Republican black woman in a predominently Republican state will put to rest the DNC argument of a war on women? No. Because the DNC argument is that Republican policies hurt women not that the Republicans don't employ black women.

    Utah loves Love.......

My first thought when I read the thread's title was that this was about Mormon marriage ideals.

Since a couple of folks have completely ignored the op and made random irrelevant statements that cannot be proven I will address the op.

The narrative by liberals that conservative or even the GOP are racist did not work. Neither has a number of other narratives by them worked either.

I think it would be a greater tragedy if she was elected to office so as to refute the image some have of the GOP in matters of racism and sexism.

What should matter to the voters of Utah is the question, is she qualified? And prayerfully the answer, yes, is what caused them to give her their trust.

    Thanks .....

It seems that some on this board love to mock what is posted.

I appreciate the last three comments, from your Rev, Catmommy and Cap ... as that was the intent of this post. Ms. Love is not only qualified, but her election to office did dismiss that idea from the left that the right is racist and hates women!

What I particluarly liked about her win was that it was also in Mormon country! Blacks and women being put in power are not exactly new to the Mormon church, but it is still breaking news when either happen.

When did the LDS start allowing women and blacks in their priesthood?

White Protestant males still think they control the New World. In reality, the Humanists are in charge, powered by the prince of the power of the air.

The ones with the gold, oil and opium still make the rules. Now what?

Curious: George Washington and Joseph Smith Jr. were both free and accepted masons.

A black woman getting elected in a predominantly LDS state is a curious aberration in the fickleness of the body politic of Utah. An in depth, unbiased, statistical analysis would be interesting to consider. (Not sure there is such a thing as an unbiased analysis of anything.)

Minorities are tolerated and mostly ignored in the wonderful world of politics. The good ol'boys still prevail. They have sons and grandsons to take their places.

Can a leopard change his/her spots?

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
