I am reading this booklet on humanism and the author believes many Christians to be practical humanists. This means they said the prayer but they live as if God does not exist. Can such a one be saved? This is not a book on Soteriology but humanism so he has not made good arguments on that topic.

However what he is saying about Humanism is on the money and I should be prepared as I write up schools to challenge and evangelize. Perhaps this type will be more open than the false teachers.

Tell me what you mean when you use the term humanist. Thanks.

NO! Read Scripture that tells us what happens in Salvation! Start with:

2Corinthians 5:17. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1John 1:6. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

John 14:23. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

And when we fail as I often do I recall the words of King David:

Psalms 51:1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Why do I need to read you? Reading you would be the same as a book. The book is loaded with scripture and does not oppose it.

Turn to Gen 3. Satan defined it well. Humanism worships man and seeks no association with God for man is god.

Perhaps you need new spectacles. I did not say read me, I said read Scripture and presented appropriate Scripture, disputing both humanism and atheism, in extra large print, as I do this response! I will repeat my initial response for your edification.

I would also note that I do not oppose Scripture. You have apparently gotten your britches in a knot because I point out the fallacies of John Nelson Darby's pre-trib-dispensationalism.

ruh oh. I better see about ridding my college of the Humanities Division. Thankfully, many of the instructors in my college's humanities division are faithful believers. (But there are also a number 3 standard deviation lefties as well)

I would not want you to think that I believe Christians should not be concerned about people, humanity if you will. That certainly is not the teaching of Jesus Christ. Ho

I guess my view of "humanism" is that it is a "politically correct" doctrine of atheism. I see from your link that my view is not consistent with yours. Just goes to show one can learn something every day.
