Pinning their hopes on having a restaurant in order to sustain their church is in error. That however, does not equal Jesus dying for McDonald's.

Like you, I didn't like the thread title.

This project is doomed to fail. They are building a McDonald's and then tacking a church onto it. "Thank you for your order. Do you want sacrament with that?"

    Is Jehovah "equivalent" to YHWH?

Well I don't know if that is a good idea or not, but regarding the title of your OP, I can tell you this. Too many Big Macs will speed up a believers journey into eternity.

We had a mega church in Riverside build a sit down restaurant with their new worship center, and it was good that they built it as a stand alone business, because it closed within six months of opening its doors.

Still a lot of southern Cali mega churches have adjoining coffee shops attached to the church, and they are reportedly full during services, as customers can order coffee and sweet rolls to enjoy while watching the service on big screens throughout the eating areas. This is over the top in my way of thinking, but it is Cali, and anything goes in Cali.

    Luke 14
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

So, perhaps coffee and donuts are just another way to "compel them to come in'.

And FWIW "to compel them" supports the issue that the compelees are being forced to choose against their inclinations.

It's not just California. Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, with 30,000 of so members, has a large coffee shop and it seems very successful.

Yeah, the concept is hardly new. Spurgeon condemned it in the 1800s:

"If the gospel must be a failure unless we attract the people by some extraneous method, it is a poor business. If the fly-paper does not attract the flies, and hold them, we may as well burn the flypaper. If your gospel cannot bring the people to hear you, and if, when they come, your gospel will not impress and convert them, well, then, give it up. Open a coffee-shop, or start in the ginger-beer line; but do not call your useless talk the blessed gospel. If you are not conscious of a supernatural power and presence with the Word of the Lord, let it alone." ―Charles Spurgeon, An All-Round Ministry

And disgraced tv preacher Ernest Angley has featured the non-franchise 'Cathedral Buffet' at his compound for years:

Televangelist Ernest Angley Encouraged Vasectomies, Abortions, Akron Beacon Journal Reports

"The 93-year-old Angley, a native of North Carolina, settled in Akron in 1954 and in 1994 bought the round, 5,400-seat Cathedral of Tomorrow, formerly operated by televangelist Rex Humbard, in Cuyahoga Falls. Angley has churches in Springfield Township and Cuyahoga Falls, broadcasts sermons on WBNX television and flies a Boeing 747 on missionary trips around the world. His Cuyahoga Falls church includes the Cathedral Buffet."

As I am sure you know, I assume you are merely probing me to see where I come from using that name. (I am not a "Roots" Guy)

The english word LORD 3068 comes from the Pronounce: yeh-ho-vaw'

    Strong: H3068

Orig: from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God:--Jehovah, the Lord. Compare 3050, 3069. H1961 H3050 H3069

    Use: TWOT-484a Proper Name

    Grk Strong: G1203 G2316 G2962

    Jehovah = "the existing One"

    1) the proper name of the one true God
1a) unpronounced except with the vowel pointings of H136

The english word "God" is most often translated Elohim.
    Pronounce: el-o-heem'

    Strong: H430

Orig: plural of 433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative:--angels, X exceeding, God (gods)(-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty. H433

I see "God" as a description of His being and the others as names.
I see no Issue using the "Hebrew"names of our Creator. Just as if you were from Spain I would surely call you ElQuantumfaith ;) as it is pronounced in Spain.

I call my wife "Lisa" sometimes as well as , "dear", "Honey", "babe", "Sug" "Wife" but the name she most appreciates to hear in combination with "I love you is LISA. That's according to her. So with that Logic applied I often like to use Jehovah, Elohim, Adonai, Yeshua and so forth.

    what's your opinion.

That is one {of several} passages of Scripture that I cannot really understand. I don't even like Gill's interpretation though he may be correct.

The Roman Catholic Church during the years of the Holy Roman Empire and the dark/middle ages took verse 23 literally and look what resulted.
