I like Mitt Romney's idea - - Sony puts the movie on the internet globally for free and asks that a $5 donation be made to fight Ebola.

Not bad, but do you think they did the right thing by canceling it at theaters?

No. They caved. There must be a lot more we're not hearing about. The hackers must have some really damaging info.

I say to hire our own hackers and get it set up so that the movie will not be shown in the US but instead in North Korea on every device they have from TVs to computers to teletrons. :D There would be no getting away from it.

I understand why SONY "folded". No one was going to show the movie anyway and really, even if North Korea didn't do anything, you just need one nut to set off a bomb and SONY would be sued. They really were between a rock and a hard place and then went with people's safety which I think is admirable.

Kind of my thoughts.....just one bad apple and Sony would get sued. On the other hand it does send a message to the hackers that threats gets results. BTW some in the higher up seem to think this could be a prelude to a power grid being taken down by hackers.....maybe a test run?

Nope, someone might attempt to sue Sony but it's unlikely a judge would allow the case. This is according to attorney Alan Dershowicz. You can't sue someone for exercising their 1st amendment rights.

Do you remember Jaws? Mrs. Kintner: Chief Brody?
    Brody: Yes?
[Mrs. Kintner slaps Brody and sobs]
Mrs. Kintner: I just found out, that a girl got killed here last week, and you knew it! You knew there was a shark out there! You knew it was dangerous! But you let people go swimming anyway? You knew all those things! But still my boy is dead now. And there's nothing you can do about it. My boy is dead. I wanted you to know that.
    [Mrs. Kintner walks away]
Mayor Vaughn: I'm sorry, Martin. She's wrong.
    Brody: No, she's not. Liability?

Why? Remember, family members sued the airlines after 9 11.

Yes, for alleged negligence. And there is no constitutional right to run an airline.

Sony is simply exercising their 1st amendment right of free speech. If there was an attack on a theater the criminals would be the terrorists, Sony would not be at fault.

The Evidence That North Korea Hacked Sony Is Flimsy

Today Sony canceled the premiere of “The Interview” and its entire Christmas-Day release of the movie because of fears that terrorists might attack theaters showing the film.

The actions show just how much power the attackers behind the Sony hack have amassed in a short time. But who exactly are they?

1 The New York Times reported this evening that North Korea is “centrally involved” in the hack, citing unnamed U.S. intelligence officials. It’s unclear from the Times report what “centrally involved” means and whether the intelligence officials are saying the hackers were state-sponsored or actually agents of the state. The Times also notes that “It is not clear how the United States came to its determination that the North Korean regime played a central role in the Sony attacks.” The public evidence pointing at the Hermit Kingdom is flimsy.

Other theories of attribution focus on hacktivists—motivated by ideology, politics or something else—or disgruntled insiders who stole the data on their own or assisted outsiders in gaining access to it. Recently, the finger has pointed at China.

In the service of unraveling the attribution mess, we examined the known evidence for and against North Korea.

Sony Hackers Issue New Threat In Wake ‘The Interview’ Cancellation, Says CNN

    Here is the message:

“Now we want you never let the movie released, distributed or leaked in any form of, for instance, DVD or piracy.”
“we still have your private and sensitive data” and claims that they will “ensure the security of your data unless you make additional trouble.”
“And we want everything related to the movie, including its trailers, as well as its full version down from any website hosting them immediately.”https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/sony...ke-interview-cancellation-says-160704289.html

The hackers are obviously lead by Madeline Albright and Dennis Rodman.
