I am a Baptist and I do listen to my pastor. At my age I've come to realize that LISTENING is really a miracle from the Lord. Over the years I should have done more of it.

Larry King once mused, "I remind myself every morning: Nothing I say this day will teach me anything. So if I'm going to learn, I must do it by listening."

Wednesday night my pastor asked the question..., "Why do we pay a sports figure millions of dollars a year and then pay someone minimum wage to sit our children while we are out earning money to buy more (STUFF)?"

I AM OF THE OPINION THAT WHEN BIBLICAL TRUTH ENTERS THE EARS OF MOST Baptist Believers, said "MOST" IS IMMEDIATELY RELEGATED TO OTHERS RATHER THAN OURSELVES. (...yeah, ole Bob over there better pay attention to that.)

I am also of the opinion that what believers need to do is assume the position as Jabez did.

"And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested." 1 Chronicles 4:10

Just consider this morning's Headlines - FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE.

Now I'm not all that well "edumacated" but it does seem to me that while we waste our time inflating our EGO's by trying to impress others with just how good we are..., and how smart we are..., perhaps we need to start ringing the bell on just how terrible things really are in our world. If not, some of the following situations might be coming to a neighborhood near you real soon.

Reality is...! Cease and desist from the nonsense and start listening!

RATS TAKING OVER THE WORLD TRADE CENTER TOWER
“When the ancient rabbis translated Isaiah 9:10 into Greek in the Septuagint, they rendered it as this: “The bricks have fallen,*come let us build for ourselves a tower.”

In other words, a tower would rise up from the ruins of the destruction.
“That’s exactly what happened at Ground Zero,” Cahn said. “The Tower is a symbol of a nation’s defiance of God. It was conceived in the ruins of 9/11 as a symbol of America’s defiance and of its promise that it would rise up stronger than before – without God. The rabbis were using the words from Babel to translate Isaiah 9:10. Eerily, there was a scripture hidden in the ruins of Ground Zero. The scripture was ‘Come let us build for ourselves …*a tower.’” www.wnd.com

Lee urged parents to warn their children about the dangers and legal consequences of sharing the video, which depicted minors engaged in sexual conduct. www.wnd.com

As always, HAMel ..... has a keen insight into Christianity, Scripture and human will. This was an EXCELLENT post, even if it was from one of the good ol' boys, that huddle together and try to keep the board heading in the direction it was meant to go in ... a place for believers to come and share; discuss (not argue or demean others in order to gain the superior hand) issues pertinent to the Gospel; and most importantly develop friends that will be cyber brothers and sisters to enjoy cyber fellowship with with the rest of our life.

I consider HAMel one of those good friends. We ne ver met, other than here on the board, and along with maybe ten others, HAMe and I converse with ne another on a regular basis, and that incudes praying for each other, our spouses and our family needs!

The board means a lot to me, and I am not about to be driven off.

    So thanks HAMel because .....

Well..., thank you, rd2. I don't really suspect that I've such a "keen insight into Christianity" but I did take the Meyers-Briggs test once and it showed that I'm a "High Sensor".

Most recently our pastor spoke regarding women's role in the church and talked briefly and specifically about the older women teaching the younger women. The following Sunday..., last Sunday, we all met in the Fellowship Hall for our Christmas Dinner.

...one of the younger women approached the service counter to help out at which time ole' Berta B. Butt ran her off with a most bitter attitude. Apparently she fell asleep during the session about older women helping the younger ones?

Often, we are our own worst enemies.

I've been waiting for someone to start a thread entitled...,

    Blowing My Own Horn

    The Adventures of Bible Man!

Bible Man; faster than a wagging tongue!
More powerful than the Holy Spirit!
Able to leap tall Doctrines in a single bound!"

    "Look! Up in the Pulpit!"
    "It's a Prophet!"
    "It's a Spirit from God!"
    "It's Bible Man!"

Yes, it's Bible Man, strange visitor from another Bible College, who came to the Forum with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men, weak, struggling men and women in the faith trying to glean Biblical Insights.

Bible Man! Fights a never ending battle to interpret it his way!
    ...at all costs.

I am getting too old. Tired of the cheap politics, the drama and the never ending nonsense..., is just over-whelming at times.

Not only should the older women be teach the younger ones..., elder men should also be teaching the younger men. Most younger men though have all the answers. You can tell people but you can't tell 'em much.

To all of you who have been in the ministry for decades may God continue to bless you.
To all you youngsters..., Pay ATTENTION!!!

Right or wrong our Lord will set the record straight in His own time His way.
