John Jones vs Daniel Cormier. Looking at their stats, they are almost identical. Strikes/minutes, defense, strikes absorbed. Cormier has 1 advantage in that he has a 100% takedown defense over Jones' 96%. Jones has a slight reach advantage, though.

Jones is defending his title for the EIGHTH time. He's 20-1-0. The contender is 15-0-0. It looks to be exciting.

Any predictions here on the board? My opinion is that Jones will come out on top by split decision.

Well, my prediction wasn't far off. Jones won by unanimous decision. He's now defended his title eight times.

Slight? Jones had a 12 and a half inch reach advantage over Cormier.

Daniel is a likeable guy. He really pushed it with Jones for the first three rounds. But Jones had youth, greater athleticism, and more to beat Daniel.

I just don't like Bones. He has no character. The way he comports himself is disgraceful. Oh for the days of a Fedor in Pride!

That's the ninth time Jones was scheduled for five rounds. He had the advantage of experience. Cormier came out strong, but you could see he was done after 3.

Jones is a generational talent for sure. I actually appreciate the fact that the bad blood remained after the fight. Made it feel like less of a production. The fight was hyped as a huge grudge match but Jones said it best when he said that he respected him as an athlete but he doesn't feel the least bit sorry for him. He said if Cormier had won he would be sitting in the press conference doing the same thing.

A Gustafsson rematch would be great but he has to get through Rumble.

Rippon it is cool to see another Pride fan here. Fedor's glory days were amazing. Minotauro Nogueira was my absolute favorite fighter of all time though. Felt like he was past his prime in the UFC unfortunately. He still pulled off a short championship run by beating Sylvia.
