Seriously, though - some low ranking someone went on our behalf, but apparently no one of significance who could give a competent or quality face time to the world.

    Face time is important sometimes.

    From CNN:
"I think it's fair to say that we should have sent someone with a higher profile to be there," White House press secretary Josh Earnest said.

He said President Barack Obama would have liked to have been there -- but the planning began Friday night, 36 hours before the event began, and there wasn't enough time for the "onerous and significant" security planning that needed to take place ahead of a presidential visit.

It's not that the US was unrepresented. The US was under represented. While the President couldn't make it on short notice, the Attourney General was in Paris on other business. Holder could have joined the US ambassador to France; who did attend.

If he really wanted to be there he could have. No one in the entire world believes his excuse.

Perry, Cruz, and Rubio have all been quick to go on record with comments like:

"Our President should have been there, because we must never hesitate to stand with our allies."

    and

"should have stood with France in person to defend Western values and show support for victims."

Yet I notice none of them were there to show their support?

The GOP cannot go unless asked--it was like a state funeral.

Baloney. Any one of those three could have gone there if they wanted to.

Do you make this stuff up on the go? They could have easily gone if they had wanted to go.

I guess the 1.5 million in attendance all got permission to go, because it was like a state funeral and you have to have permission to be there.

Right, anyone with a passport could have gone, but as Squire Robertsson pointed out above, the USA was under-represented. I personally don't attach much importance to the event, but I think that Biden should have been sent. It could be that the French did not particularly want the Democrats there.

It sure was a huge political "gaffe" or then again, WAS IT?

He continues to embarrass all true Americans. How disappointing he is, and continues to be.

The truth is, the man needs to step down. He is quick to send Holder for photo OPs in Ferguson, but can't even order Holder to the biggest photo OP in mankind's history when it comes to solidarity against terrorism.
