Take this as a challenge. This weekend engage a lost person with the gospel. You can pass out a gospel tract, get into a conversation, write a letter or do something to preach the gospel to all of creation (Mk 16:15). God commands all people to repent (Acts 17:30) as jesus preached (Luke 5:32). People are on their way to Hell and need gospel preachers.

    Some verses on repentance

    Eze 18:30-32
    Isa 55:6-7
    Mark 6:12
    Luke 24:45-49

    Some verses on Hell
    Matt 18:6-9
    Matt 25:30
    Matt 23:15,33

There are dozens more but be encouraged and go out and call people to repentance. Satan will do whatever he can to stop you including sending both unbelievers and believers.

I don't go out seeking the lost, God has me reaching in. Most people think Paul only preached the gospel to lost people, but Romans 1:7 15 tells otherwise:

7 to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

15 So, for my part, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome

I preach the gospel every week. A children's Sunday School class, and adult bible study on Wednesday evenings. And that's exactly what God has called me to do.

You can't pressure people to forsake their calling from God to follow after you.

I have a counter challenge. You be obedient to the Lord in regards to your calling and let everyone else be obedient to theirs.

Some verses on being obedient to your calling:

And say to Archippus, "Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it."
    Colossians 4:17 NAS77

But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
    2 Timothy 4:5 NAS77

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fulness of Christ.
    Ephesians 4:11-13 NAS77

The gospel is the power of God unto Salvation, so it's meant for the lost. It is also a means of refueling for the saved. Some of us have a calling to preach the gospel. All of us have a calling to share our testimony and carry the word, as it is written on our hearts.

As James said, it is not your place, Evan, to tell others to give up on what they were called to do just to follow what you think that they should be doing.

Here's my challenge to all BB members....

Go and eat five bowls of cereal and report back as to who it went.

Cause I like making arbitrary challenges to people I don't know and will never meet.

Do you have a preferred brand of cereal? I could probably eat three or four bowls of Frosted Flakes before the diabetic coma thing set in.

Yes because it really is about the book, and then you must report on what this author says you must do to be a good Christian. When challenged just run back to the book of the week.

Think how hepped up on sugar you would be! You'd have lots of energy to yell at people and tell them to repent or they're going to Hell!

Here's a guy that has a genuine heart for the lost and all he's trying to do is inspire others to go out and win the lost. What happens? People mock and criticize him. So sad...

If your pastor issues the same challenge from the pulpit, how would you respond?

I think the Evan is too busy thinking up new threads to start to take advice. He outdoes conspiracy theorist poncho on the politics forum by far.

Properly discipled Christians don't need a juvenile challenge from the pulpit to do the right thing. People that love the Lord can't shut up about Him in season and out of season.

This young guy you speak of has a genuine heart for the lost tempered by the conviction that he's the only one out preaching the Gospel effectively. It gets old about the 100th time you hear it.

I was just visiting. Website of a large Baptist church using WOTM evangelism training. I just don't understand many on this board. I can't figure them out! Plenty of Baptists do evangelism.

Where did you ever get the idea that anyone on this board is not doing evangelism?

I think you're going to have a hard time finding evidence that he's simply trying to inspire others to go win the lost.

It's projected as a Master Fisherman giving advice to people who've never seen a fishing pole.

Not only that, there are serious concerns with content and style. And there is the issue of being called of God. And generic counters given, such as someone mentioning other callings, are viewed as lazy people making excuses.

Then people feel compelled to lay out what they're doing, in order to answer criticism based on speculation. Like Padre, for instance.

He shouldn't have to tell us about the hands he's held, the prayers he's offered, the kind way in which he's spreading a knowledge of the truth.

Doing evangelism isn't the problem. You're convinced if folks aren't doing it your way they aren't doing it at all.

The constant barrage sounds like this.....

Then Elijah said to the people, "I alone am left a prophet of the LORD, but Baal's prophets are 450 men.
    1 Kings 18:22 NAS77
