Not sure best forum to put this in - feel free to move

Last night Kate Perry preformed at the Super Bowl.

I was looking at the Wiki article about her and it stated: Her family struggled financially,[10] sometimes using food stamps and eating from the food bank intended to feed the congregation at her parents' church.[11

Is it right for parents to used govt give-a-way programs in order to send their children to private schools?

According to the Article - (life and career) it appears her parents were extremely strict.

Here is the website for her parents ministry.

It's a Wiki article, so huge grains of salt needed.

It would seem that they qualified at the time, so sure get the help.

The help is based on an overall income, not overall expenses. If your income is such and such a level, you are qualified to receive the help.

I disagree!! It is your responsibility to take care of needs first - ie food. Then what is left over is for wants.

The article doesn't say they were on welfare while she was attending private school. Not sure where you're pulling that from.

    Sigh.

The article doesn't say they were on food stamps while she was attending private school. Not sure where you're pulling that from.

    Is that better?

Hating welfare abuse is something you can do. Making an assumption about a family based on a Wiki article is another entirey. Besides she has by this time paid enough in taxes to cover whatever the food stamps cost years ago. The food stamps worked, helped out in a time of need now she is on her own, that's how it's supposed to work.

Her father was a pastor and oftentimes, Christian schools give generous scholarships to pastor's families so that their children can attend. I know my children could attend our local Christian school for a mere fraction of what others pay.
