    Simple question.

    Should everyone have equal rights?

First - what is a right?
Should prisoners be allowed to vote
Should 8 year olds be allowed to vote

Should 16 year olds allowed to buy cancer sticks and booze

Should men have the right to use the women's restroom.

Why didn't you just word this as a "yes or no" question? There's a lot to discuss here. Boiling down something so big to a "simple question" isn't really feasible unless you're just trying to get people to give only the answer you want them to give.

No. Convicted felons should not have the right to possess firearms.

Define Right - If you are referring to those enumerated in the Constitution, then yes. I believe the Founders referred to them as inalienable.

Should those in prison? They still have them, they are just not permitted to exercise them. Once they are released, they have them but many feel they should not have their rights be observed.

I think if you are not in prison, it should not be illegal to own a firearm. If it is a right, then you have it. If you think they should not, then you don't believe it is a right, but rather a privilege. If you such a danger that you can't be trusted to vote or own a firearm, then you should not be out of prison.

Take G. Gordon Liddy for example. He was convicted as a felon (Watergate) but that was more of a "white collar crime"
I would have no problem with him being allowed to own a firearm.

For those who think felons should be barred from owning firearms, let's hear the words of one of our Founders, Thomas Jefferson..

"No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms"

And it was the gun control act of 1968 that made it illegal. Up to that point, they were permitted to purchase and possess firearms.

However some rights were not spelled out. For example a woman did not necessary have a right to vote (nor was it prohibited)
Some rights do have limits - (you cant yell fire in a crowed theater)

Actually, some States/Commonwealths deny the right to vote to convicted felons - even after release.
Tough call - If a man has shown he has been violent with a weapon - there is cause to prohibit him from having a weapon. Otherwise he would have to remain in prison or be on probation for the rest of his life.

Exactly. This whole issue is not as "simple" as CTB's question would make it seem.

Not talking about what happens, talking about what a RIGHT actually is. My opinion, most people aren't smart enough to be allowed to vote. But if it is a right, then only prison should stop the exercise of that right.

The person who has proven violent, if they want, can get a firearm illegally. But, I believe that is a frivolous argument myself.

So when someone is released from prison, have they paid their debt to society? If not, why are they out of prison? And if they are released, why are they not afforded the right to defend themselves from tyranny?

We all have the right to be born, die, and face judgement.

We are all equal in our creator's eyes, therefore, we all have the same rights, in him.

Bible says nothing about human rights. His laws are commands.

Women will face the same judgement men do.
