and what about the other 100 or so Congressmen who have been in office for the past 10 years or so.

Also were those voted a single issue bill or were they an attachment on an unrelated bill?

Don't know Salty. But I am coming to believe the old mountaineer I heard was right when he said, "Congressmen/women should be allowed to serve two terms; one in Congress and one in jail.

And, as they vote on a pay raise, or not, for so many, maybe those earning the minimum wage should be allowed to vote on their congressman getting a pay raise or not.

    What think ye?

So they actually can't "give themselves" a raise. All they can do is increase the salary for the next congressional session. So if he was voted out of office he would not get the increase.
But please continue on with the class baiting.

    Crabby,

You should be in love with this guy. He is an establishment liberal Republican that picks and chooses when to support Obama, and that choice is based on what is best for him. Last year in the primary I voted for his opponent Matt Biven who really is a conservative. Our other Senator, Rand Paul, is also a conservative. There is not a dimes worth of difference between Mitch McConnell and Harry Reid.

They are basically all of the same mindset. Of course, if a congressperson knows the bill is going to pass, in order to win reelection, will, as the poem goes..............."vote no and take the dough."

So what you are saying you do not know the answerer to my question.

At least Crabby admitted he did not know.
BTW, I don't know the answer either.

However, one thing I do know is that Congress does NOT vote for a pay raise - it is automatic unless they vote it down.
And here is some additional info about these raises.

And one other thing - Congress has no business making a minimum wage law. That should be left to the States/Commonwealths. But further,I am of the belief that wages should be determined by the employer.

Pretty neat politics there. No vote and I get a raise and can say, "Oh, I didn't vote for a raise."

You sound like another feller from Kentucky but he was banned. I miss him!

Rand Paul is a libertarian! Big difference but not as nutty as his Dad.

Exactly right! I don't think Congress has the Constitutional authority to set any kind of wage rate for private employers. But they never let the Constitution stand in the way of pandering for a vote!
