.... political statements. Homo$exual flaunting. Racial rants. And liberal kissing up!

No I didn't watch the show, but the news provided enough of the highlights to prove that the Oscar has become nothing more than a carnival sideshow, including women sporting tattoos, low cut dresses that leave nothing to the imagination and slutty attire and jokes that would make a sailor blush. All those attending continue to demonstrate the death of American morals and values. All that's left is the impending judgment of God. :praying:

Nothing. I expected sleaze and they out did theirselves, again. It won't be long until this event is moved to cable. It is not quite ready for prime time any more. There was a day that I enjoyed the awards. But Lawrence of Arabia was a long time ago

I watched about the last hour of it last night and I didn't see any of those things. It's true, the Oscars is really about narcissism, but last night (at least the last hour - was really quite tame and seemed to be about truly honoring performances.)

I saw the introductions of celebrities and their announcements and the acceptances of best picture, actor, actress, director, adapted screenplay, original screenplay, song, and score.

I saw the tail end of the Glory performance and was in awe of Lady Gaga's homage to the Sound of Music (celebrating it's 50th anniversary). I'm no fan of Lady Gaga, but WHO KNEW she had such a beautiful and powerful voice?!?!

Yes, she had a tattoo on her arm, but that didn't affect her performance and it was brilliant. Even Julie Andrews was moved and impressed.

I didn't see any homosexual flaunting, but as I said, I only saw the last hour.

When the young man who wrote the screenplay for The Imitation Game (about the British war hero who led the team that cracked Nazi codes who was later convicted of being a homosexual and sentenced to forced hormone injections to "cure" him, but only drove him to suicide) accepted his award, I was wondering while he was talking if he were gay. He didn't mention it.

What he did say was this, "It's not fair that Juring couldn't be here to see this tonight. When I was 16, I felt different and weird and didn't fit in and tried to kill myself. I just want all those 16-year-olds out there who feel different and weird to just hang on - you might take the stage one day. Please don't try to kill yourself."

    He didn't mention homosexuality.

There might have been some debauchery in the first two hours, I didn't see that part. But there wasn't any in the last hour.

Oh, and those gowns you said were offensive....

I think you must have seen some images on the news of photos taken at some of the after parties. A lot of actresses are notorious for changing from their Oscar gowns to very trashy party dresses for the after parties that are private and not shown on television. There are photographers there and some of those pictures get on the news and the net.

My childhood friend wrote "Everything is awesome" for the Lego movie. When he didn't win, I turned it off.

Exactly. It's a tribute to Hollywood.

I take it the OP is a rant about depraved people apart from Christ acting like and doing things that depraved people apart from Christ do?

Pretty much. It's time to do something. It's time to point them to Christ and away from the depravity.

We already know how we Christians feel about most of what comes out of Hollywood. What are WE doing to effect change?

Maybe if Christians decided to take the year off from going to the movies Hollywood would start listening and adjust their content?

Not going to happen when you have Christians (on this board) making statements like:

"I don't think cussing per se is sinning (depends on what is being said), nor is being rude to people."
