Reconstructing Gaza could take an entire century, if Israel doesn’t stop the siege, leading charity Oxfam warned. And that’s just the time frame for essential projects. The NGO’s regional director calls the situation “deplorable.”

Enamored with the Russian State-funded and owned news network, eh? You seem to cite it quite a bit.

And you figure that RT is "closer to the truth" how? Because their (the Russian government's) agenda fits closer to yours?

Well, yeah. My agenda is to find the truth after all.

What's your agenda? If I had to guess I'd say character assassination.

Seems to me that government-run media is not exactly trustworthy. Russian government especially. As the saying is "There is no truth in the news, and no news in the truth" (regarding TASS and Pravda, two other Russian government controlled outlets).

Give it a rest. If you cannot defend our posts on the merits without playing victim, you should grow thicker skin.

Seems to me the corporate media isn't all that trustworthy either.

The difference being the Russian media provides images, videos and other forms of documentation to support their claims. With the corporate media it's either take our word for it without question or people like Rolf will do a character assassination routine on ya.

    Of course . . .

You could just go around the Russian media and read the report from Oxfam and see what it says for yourself. Evidently the Russian media includes links in their articles that allows you to view the information and come to your own conclusions.

Then you could discuss what's actually contained in the report instead of having to go to all the trouble to marginalize the source and do the ole character assassination routine on me. :)

Images, video, and documentation can be manipulated.

Questioning your source use is not character assassination. Stop being overly-sensitive.

Seems to me that you are the touchy one. You seem to take offense that your source use is questioned. Rather than give substantive rebuttals, you try to shift focus back on the one skeptical of RT's trustworthiness.

If it involves what's in the report and the situation in Gaza yeah. Evidently that isn't what you want to talk about.

Don't give up yet though you still have one more page after this for trolling.

Here's two articles from the "corporate media" . . . See? I'm "fair and balanced".

In September 2007, the Israeli government declared the Strip a "hostile entity" in response to continued rocket attacks on southern Israel, and said it would start cutting fuel imports.
Fuel shortages and a lack of spare parts have had a heavy knock-on impact on sewage treatment, waste collection, water supply and medical facilities.

Israel maintains the blockade has at no point caused a humanitarian crisis - but in early 2008, a group of aid agencies described the situation as exactly that, and the worst situation in the strip since Israel occupied it in 1967. The blockade has been criticised as collective punishment by, among other, the United Nations.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5122404.stm

Moments after Ibrahim al-Awawda climbed over the nine-foot fence separating the Bureij refugee camp on Gaza’s eastern edge from Israel, he was surrounded by six Israeli soldiers. They arrested him, interrogated him and, after he spent a month in two Israeli prisons, sent him back to the poverty, death and destruction in Gaza that had led him to flee.

“I knew they would capture me,” said Ibrahim, 15, whose father was killed in an Israeli strike in 2002 and who has since lived through three wars between Israel and Gaza militants, including last summer’s bloody 50-day battle. “The war shook me,” he added. “I told myself I may find a better life. They served me good food, but later, they threw me back to Gaza.”

Even if it was rebuilt from the ground up, the palestinians would just trash it out in a few years.

It would be a waste of time and money.

I know. They're pretty ungrateful for not thanking the Israeli's for helping them trash it.

    Ingrates.

That's because the topic of the thread is the situation in Gaza not the trustworthiness of the Russian media.

If that were the topic of the thread the title would be something like "Is the Russian media trustworthy?", in that case substantive rebuttals might be warranted.

But it's not the case. See the difference? One is the topic the other is not. One might warrant substantive rebuttals the other does not.

You got what you asked for and it apparently rankled your own thin skin.

I haven't taken offense to anything. And it was you who were trying to shift the focus off the topic of the thread and onto a topic you wished to talk about instead.

In certain circles and in times past that might have been considered trying to hijack the thread.

Not "rankled" (had to look that one up) in the least. I thought that since RT is cited as your source in the OP, your choice of its usage was fair game and in keeping with the topic. Apparently, you do not think that it is.

They could always decide to stop firing rockets into Israel I suppose.

You say "they" as if every one in Gaza is firing rockets into Israel.

I suppose "they" could all starve to death or die from lack of medical treatment and that would be fine because the actions of a few "justifies" it.

Yes Rev, the mere suggestion of talking about the conditions in Gaza is propaganda.

The lack of compassion for other's among my fellow "Christians" never ceases to amaze me. And we wonder why people are turning away from God?

The blatant hypocrisy and lack of compassion on display among "church goers" today is enough to turn anyone's nose up at "Christianity".
