And on the 50th anniversary of Selma and Bloody Sunday, this is just sad. Legislation has become the new Jim Crow.

Very similar to how the people at the polling places would not let Blacks vote unless they could answer a series of ever changing questions that Whites didn't have to answer, Voter ID legislation is doing the same thing.

Legislation. The new Jim Crow that allows people to once again discriminate and feel okay about it. [IMG]

Perhaps Obama is 100% black and he thinks he is divinity, like the old pharaohs! So who knows, being divine time poses no problems!.

When I came to SC in 1960 there were precincts where Republicans were not allowed to vote.

So enough garbage about the GOP restricting voting rights. If it were not for the Republican Party there would have been no voting rights bill!

Enough for what? They are the ones legislating the restrictions.

Oh stop being silly. A first grader can tell you that GOP ain't got the same makeup of today's GOP. The two parties have literally switched places as the mean, nastiness of the old Dems has moved into the GOP.

The current GOP is restricting voting rights. It is what it is whether or not you want to admit it.

Powell should switch parties. He is a good general but he is too liberal for the GOP.

 This is just another reason why the GOP won't be winning any Presidential elections for a long time.

That is stupid and false. A picture ID is required for practically everything else in this country and should be for our most important right, honest elections.

The only reason people like you are squealing is that it means you can't vote illegals who vote democrat. It is as bad as when democrats used to bus blacks to the polls to vote!

It is rather tragic to see Powell turn on the party that did so much for him!

I have a different take on the GOP. They are so liberal they should join the Democrat Party and we should start a new one.

Are you saying a person should stick to the party line rather than be honest about their positions?

Has Powell apologized for the Iraq war, yet ? If not, please just tell him to shut up. He lost any credibility with me decades ago.

Powell could win the White House if he ran as a Democrat.
