Do you have an Easter Sunrise Service? Do you hold it at your facility or elsewhere? What's the format of the service?

We have one on the front porch of our fellowship hall, which faces east. If the weather is bad we do it inside. Conducted similar to a service, though much shorter. We have a couple of songs and then the Pastor will preach, or he'll have someone else do it. I've been in charge of the Sunrise Service 4 or 5 times, I guess. If the weather is particularly nice, we may even do a cemetery walk prior to the service. (More often than not, it's either rainy or cold on Easter morning, for whatever reason...rarely is it hot.)

Then we have a church breakfast afterwards before going into normal Sunday service.

Depends on the sunrise time. For my hometown, sunrise on Easter Sunday is supposed to be at 7:19am. So we'll probably tell everyone to be there about 7am and then start at about 7:10 or so. That way the sunrise should happen during the message. We actually set things up so that the congregation isn't staring directly into the sun as it rises.

Easter is March 27 in 2016 (sunrise at 7:30am).
    It's April 16 in 2017 (sunrise at 7:04am).

Our sunrise service is at 6:30am in the lobby of the church. So the sun starts to rise behind the cross we have set up. It's usually shorter than our regular service.

    Great.
We do ours at 6:30 am on our parking lot that fronts on the cemetery (just in case there's another resurrection :saint: ) The sun rises to our back. It lasts about 45 minutes with singing and a message. Then we end it with the Baptist national sport of eating.

We have a man in our church who has a formula for purchasing "the just right amount" of food depending on which meal it is, number of people and average age of those attending. I'm sure there are other factors, but he lost me when he said he generally factors in 1.5 pieces of bacon per person. I'm more of a 5.0 pieces of bacon kind of guy.

We have a community service (Baptist, Methodist, Assembly, Non denom, Catholic). Each year the music and message rotates to a different church. Starts at 7, meet at the cemetery which has a covered pavilion over a cement slab, which is nice. Singing, short message, ending with everyone coming to the front and placing flowers on a cross that has been covered with wire. Once done, the old cross is covered with fresh flowers. Closing prayer then we head over to the nearby church for breakfast in their fellowship hall. Nice way to start the day.

If it's cooked properly then I'm definitely in the 5-piece camp. I prefer my bacon cooked as crispy as possible. Chewy bacon, to me, just feels like someone left work a little early and didn't finish cooking it.

Yep, crispy bacon is the only way to go. The only exception is if you boil it (stay with me), drain it well, then chop it up and form it into a patty and then crisp it up by putting it on a flat top to make a real bacon burger.

Anyone want to share a Lipitor?!? LOL

In my "New & Improved" diet:rolleyes: I use Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon prepared in the microwave ....set to crispy. Admittedly dryer than pig but I add eggs fresh from my chickens & lots of coffee to wash it down.

I've never boiled bacon. I've baked it before. That's how I make candied bacon.

Thank God the church I attend don't have them.

Usually at sunrise out beside the church in other churches.

My thoughts are that there were others who feel gifted to wake up at the crack of done to put stuff on Jesus body. I am not the one. I will hook up later in the day when we both are awake.

I dunno...sleeping is pretty high on the list too. In fact, some of our members are so dedicated to the sport that they practice even during church.

Unless we get some sunshine and warmer temperatures real quick we'll be standing in about three foot of snow.
