Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who on 4 February 2014 was selected for his post by Victoria Nuland of the U.S. State Department, was quoted by Ukrainian media on Thursday March 12th of 2015 as saying that, “Ukraine is in a state of war with a nuclear state, which is the Russian Federation. Hostile countries over the past decade have spent billions of dollars rearming it.”

His quoted statement went on to blame Ukraine’s problems on Russia: “The country [Ukraine] is billions of dollars in debt, having been a corrupt and demoralized nation that has no gas in storage and no dollars to buy it. … [Russia] destroyed 20% of Ukraine’s economy, bombed the mines in the fighting, and produced a million displaced persons, who, as a result are forced to leave their homes.” [NOTE: Those bombs, some of which were firebombs, actually fell from Ukrainian Air Force planes, and were supplemented by Ukrainian Army missiles. The resident forces in the rebel area of the southeast that the Ukrainian Government is fighting against had no air force at all until recently, and very little even now. And, of course, any “rearming” of Russia is being done by Russia, not by “Hostile countries over the past decade.”]

The next day, March 13th, the same Ukrainian ‘news’ source headlined “Militants in the Donbass Are Professional Soldiers Led by the Army of the Russian Federation,” and ‘reported’ that, “Military units of illegal armed groups ‘DNR’ and ‘LC’ are formed on the organizational structure of Russian military units, and the main staff and command positions are appointed by the Russian officers. This was announced during a briefing for foreign journalists on the situation in the Donbas by Deputy Chief of Staff, Colonel Valentin Fedichev of the ATO [Anti Terrorist Operation].” [NOTE: On 29 January 2015, the Chief of Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said that, at least as of that moment in time, there were no Russian troops fighting against the Ukrainian Government’s forces, but only a few individual volunteers from Russia. There are likewise individual volunteers from several countries who are fighting for the Ukrainian Government. In addition, there are military advisors in the war from the U.S. and from Russia.]

On 7 January 2015, Yatsenyuk said in Germany:

I take it you've manned up enough to do your own talking now instead of relying on your pet monkey to do it for you. Bravo!

In my opinion it makes more sense to believe someone (blogger) that provides evidence to support their conclusions rather than someone (MSM personality) who just keeps making claims while providing no evidence at all.

But that's just me. Obviously you don't follow the same line of logic.

EU Splits on Ukraine — How and Why

The issue is whether to supply weapons to Ukraine.

On Friday, March 13th, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced, referring to himself in the third person, that:

“The Head of State has informed that Ukraine had contracts with a series of the EU countries on the supply of armament, inter alia, lethal one. He has reminded that official embargo of the EU on the supply of weapons to Ukraine had been abolished.”

In other words: Some EU nations, and he is keeping secret for now the identity of which ones, have contracted to supply to Ukraine’s ‘Anti Terrorist Operation’ or ‘ATO,’ weapons to assist Ukraine in its ‘Anti Terrorist Operation.’

Then, on Saturday, March 14th, Russian Television, Russia’s equivalent of Britain’s BBC and America’s PBS, headlined “Poroshenko: 11 EU states struck deal with Ukraine to deliver weapons, including lethal,” and added further details, besides (presumably from Russian-Government intelligence) the specific number (11) of the nations that would be supplying weapons to Ukraine.

CNN Is Beating the Drums of War

    Paul Craig Roberts

President George W. Bush’s national security advisor, Condi Rice, warned Americans that Saddam Hussein’s (nonexistent) weapons of mass destruction could result in a mushroom cloud going up over an American city. No such threat existed. But today a very real threat exists over all American cities, and the national security advisor does not notice.

The threat issues from Washington and arises from the demonization of Russia and its leadership.

Wolf Blitzer (CNN, March 13) used the cover of a news program to broadcast a propaganda performance straight out of the Third Reich or perhaps from George Orwell’s 1984. The orchestration presented Russia as a massive, aggressive military threat. The screen was filled with missiles firing and an assortment of American General Strangeloves urging provocative measures to be deployed against the Russian Threat. Blitzer’s program is part of the orchestrated propaganda campaign whose purpose is to prepare Americans for conflict with Russia.

It was such irresponsible propaganda and so many blatant lies for a media organization to sponsor that it was obvious that CNN and Wolf Blitzer had no fear of being called on the carpet for spreading war fever. The so-called “mainstream media” has been transformed into a Ministry of Propaganda.

Similar propaganda is being spread in the UK where defense minister Michael Fallon declared Russia to be a “real and present danger” to Europe. US troops and tanks are being rushed to the Baltics on the pretext that Russia is going to attack.

That such blatant lies can issue from high government officials without a shred of evidence and without shame should scare you to death. We are witnessing the total disrespect for truth and human life by high government officials and the presstitute media.

Breedlove’s Bellicosity: Berlin Alarmed by Aggressive NATO Stance on Ukraine

    Gen. Breedlove or Dr. Strangelove?

General Breedlove is the real life counterpart to General Jack D. Ripper in the 1964 film, Dr. Strangelove. He can’t wait to start a nuclear war. Americans should be scared to death that a crazed warmonger such as General Breedlove is the commander of NATO and is trying to defeat Europe’s efforts to resolve peacefully the conflict that Washington started in Ukraine. The crazed general is betting that if he can derail the Minsk agreement, Obama can be forced to send arms and US military personnel to Ukraine, thus advancing the situation toward war. Neoconservative Victoria Nuland is doing all she can to help Breedlove sabotage a peaceful resolution.

In the article below, the German magazine Spiegel expresses the German government’s concern that the US military/neoconservative alliance is undermining a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict.

I didn't see a declaration of war there, but I might have missed it. Care to point it out?

I haven't seen any evidence of a "Russian invasion" or occupation of Ukraine, but I might have missed it. Care to point it out?

I see no need to point out something I have never alledged?

OTOH you did say Ukraine had "declared war". I'd simply like to see that "declaration". I didn't find it in the material you provided.

No I do not agree as I have been following this situation very closely for the past year. Everything the Ukrainian coup government has done since Obama, Soros and Nuland decided to under write and facilitate the overthrow of the elected Ukrainian government and install the ultra nationalist coup government is to declare war against Russia by making false claims and trying to provoke a Russian response that can be used as a pretext for Washington to become overtly militarily involved there.

So far Russia has been smart enough to see through all the "barnyard crap" and not provide the pretext Washington and the Ukrainian coup government needs to justify Washington's illegal and unethical intrusions into Ukraine's affairs.

Russia or America: Who Is the Real Aggressor?

As the crisis in Ukraine continues to perpetuate, one aspect that has been particularly striking is the language used by the Western media and politicians to describe Russia and its President, Vladimir Putin.

The country and its leader have been branded as aggressors, invaders, empire builders and have even been compared to Nazi Germany. In the field of psychology, there is a term to describe a defence mechanism – projection, which is characterised by projecting unwanted feelings onto other people. Perhaps, the US and its Western allies are experiencing a surge of projection, as the way they have been describing Russia is not only incorrect, but is also an appropriate way to describe the Western powers.

    Russia’s non-aggression

Let us start with Russia. Since President Vladimir Putin came to power in 2000, apart from the most recent crisis in Ukraine (which I will address shortly), Russia has been involved in just two major conflicts: The Chechen War between 1999 and 2009 and the so-called Five Day War with Georgia in 2008. In both of these events, it can be argued with some certainty that Russia did not instigate the conflict, and was in fact acting defensively. The Chechnya conflict began after the Invasion of Dagestan, when the Chechnya-based Islamic International Brigade (IIB), an Islamist militia [ covertly supported by the CIA], led by warlords Shamil Basayev and Ibn al-Khattab, invaded the neighbouring Russian republic of Dagestan on August 2, 1999, in support of the Shura of Dagestan separatist rebels. Russia was left with little choice but to enter Chechnya on 1 October. The campaign ended the de facto independence of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and restored Russian federal control over the territory. It is even debatable to even consider this as a “foreign” conflict, as it is quite plausible to argue that this crisis was an internal one.

The conflict with Georgia follows a similar line of events as with Chechnya. During the night of 7 to 8 August 2008, Georgia launched a large-scale military offensive against South Ossetia, in an attempt to reclaim the territory. This move was completely unprovoked. The Georgian attack caused casualties among Russian peacekeepers, who resisted the assault along with Ossetian militia. Russia rightfully reacted by deploying units of the Russian 58th Army and Russian Airborne Troops into South Ossetia one day later, and launched airstrikes against Georgian forces in South Ossetia and military and logistical targets in Georgia proper. It is now well established that the majority of experts, monitors and ambassadors agreed that the war was started by Georgia.
