History is repeating. Demonstrated from the Bible.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 - The thing that hath been, it [is that] which shall be; and that which is done [is] that which shall be done: and [there is] no new [thing] under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 3:15 - That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

Looking again at these two texts:

    Ecclesiastes 1:9:

The thing that hath been, (Past)

it [is that] which shall be; (Future, again)

and that which is done (Present)

[is] that which shall be done: (Future, again)

and [there is] no new [thing] under the sun. (Cycle)

    Ecclesiastes 3:15

    That which hath been (Past)

    is now; (Present, again)

and that which is to be (Future, again)

    hath already been; (Past)

and God requireth (Present, Future, again, Cycle)

that which is past (Past, Cycle).

Now we can look at the History in the Scripture itself, and see.

Let us begin with a simple broad example, and move unto more specific examples:

Matthew 24:37 - But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Matthew 24:38 - For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Matthew 24:39 - And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Luke 17:26 - And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

Luke 17:27 - They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

    Luke 17:28 - Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

Luke 17:29 - But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed [them] all.

Luke 17:30 - Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

A whole world covered by water, and to come, a whole world to be covered by fire, even as Baptism. There is of course a great deal more detail even in those points, but let us look other specific examples.

Please turn in your Bibles prayerfully to Daniel 10-12, for therein, I would like to share with you more about this matter of the repetition of History as the Scripture itself gives it:

In Daniel 10:1, we see that Cyrus II the Great of (Medo)Persia was already in the third year of his reign, being two years since the First (of Three) Decree(s) (Ezra 6:14) went forward in 536 BC (2 Chronicles 36:22-3; Ezra 1:1-4, 6:3; Isaiah 44:26-28; Daniel 1:21), in which Daniel (greatly beloved) was still alive (at about 90 years of age, the age of John the beloved Apostle on the Isle of Patmos):

Daniel 10:1 - In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing [was] true, but the time appointed [was] long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

Yet we see that, in Daniel 10, that the messenger Gabriel (*) comes to speak with Daniel about events that were Future to Daniel's present time (Daniel 11:1), which would run through the course of history (Daniel 11:1-45; 12:1-3; all linked with Daniel 1-10), unto and through the first coming of Christ Jesus, and continuing all the way through history unto the end and second coming of Christ Jesus (Daniel 12:1-3).

However, let us take notice where Gabriel (*) is getting the information about the Future from! It was from that which was already written in the Scripture of Truth, in otherwords, the very word of God, from Genesis unto the time of the Prophet Daniel in the 3rd Year of the reign of Cyrus II the Great of (Medo)Persia! Look:

Daniel 10:21 - But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and [there is] none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

Notice. The Future from the time of Daniel, was already in the History written before, and in the prophets before Daniel!

The very Future History which would come after Daniel in Daniel 11-12, is already given in the previous Scriptures up to that time! Even as Ecclesiastes 1:9, 3:15 reveal, God requires that which is past to be yet again.

Listen and study carefully, and pray. Know for certain:

1 Thessalonians 5:1 - But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

1 Thessalonians 5:2 - For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

1 Thessalonians 5:3 - For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

1 Thessalonians 5:4 - But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

1 Thessalonians 5:5 - Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

1 Thessalonians 5:6 - Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.

1 Thessalonians 5:7 - For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

1 Thessalonians 5:8 - But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

    Now consider, most carefully.

According to Daniel 10:1, Cyrus II the Great was ruling.

According to Daniel 11:1-2, "yet" "three Kings" were to come after him.

Daniel 11:1 - Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, [even] I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.

Daniel 11:2 - And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than [they] all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

Those "yet" "three Kings" of (Medo)Persia, according to Scripture, were [I.] Cambyses II (son of Cyrus II the Great) and in Scripture known as "Ahasuerus" (Ezra 4:6) who conquered Egypt, the Third Rib (Daniel 7:5), Third Direction, "Southward" (Daniel 8:4) (and do not confuse this "Ahasuerus" person with the previous "Ahasuerus", the father of Darius the Mede (Daniel 9:1); nor confuse him with the later "Ahasuerus", the husband of Esther (Haddasah); who was Xerxes I the Great (who ruled not over 120 (Daniel 6:1), but now over the increased 127 provinces (Esther 1:1)), [II.] (false) Artaxerxes (also known as False Smerdis, Pseudo Bardiya, sometimes, Gaumata and is not to be confused with the real "Artaxerxes I Longimanus" (the son of Xerxes I the Great, "Ahasuerus", Husband of Esther, which ruled over 127 provinces) who issued the Third and final decree years later) of Ezra 4:7, who illegally (Daniel 6:8,12,15, the law of the Medes/Persians could not be legally changed) gave the 'countermanding' decree (Ezra 4:7-24) to Cyrus II the Great's decree. [III.] Darius I Hystaspes The Persian (Ezra 4:5,24, 5:5,6,7, 6:1,12,13, 14,15; Haggai 1:1,15, 2:10; Zechariah 1:1,7, 7:1) (not to be confused with Darius the Mede of years earlier (Daniel 5:31, 6:1,6,9,25,28, 9:1, 11:1)) who gave the Second Decree in 520 BC, to re-enact Cyrus II's Original Decree, because of the false 'countermanding' decree of the previous king, whom Darius I Hystaspes killed and assumed the throne.

Then notice, that there would a a "fourth" "king" who "shall be far richer than [they] all", even "by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia".

[IV.] Xerxes I the Great, the "Ahasuerus", Husband of Esther who ruled over 127 provinces in Esther 1:1 and throughout. By his great wealth inherited from the spoils of Cyrus II the Great (Isaiah 45:1-3), who conquered Babylon and Lydia (King Croesus) and under Cambyses II, also conquered Egypt and its treasures (Hebrews 11:26) and also from the "revenue of the Kings" (Ezra 4:13) from his father Darius I Hystaspes the Persian in his campaigns, and from also the "tribute" put forth by himself, unto all the "isles" [even Greeks/Macedonians, etc]:

Esther 10:1 - And the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and [upon] the isles of the sea.

Those "isles" included "Javan" or the Greeks (Isaiah 66:19, etc).

Then came Artaxerxes I Longimanus and so on...

(*) We can know that the messenger that spoke with Daniel is Gabriel through Scripture comparison of the previous and latter texts, demonstrable upon request.

The Macedonian/Greek Empire came under Alexander III the Great:

Daniel 11:3 - And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

But it would eventually be sub-divided in four (Seleucus, Ptolemy, Cassander, Lysimachus dynasties) major sections (Daniel 7:7, 8:8,21-22), before becoming 2 major sections, of a Northern (Coele-Syria/Babylon under Seleucus/Antiochus dynasty) and Southern (Egypt under Ptolemy dynasty) portions, with Jerusalem in the midst between them:

Daniel 11:4 - And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.

After a long time with Greece and its division (Daniel 11:3,4,5-19) would come Rome (Daniel 11:20) in various phases. We will pause here, and consider that Gabriel got all of that from that which was "noted in the Scripture of Truth".

Therefore, we should be able to go back into the OT, and see a similar pattern of History up to the time of Cyrus II the Great and the release of God's people from physical Babylon. However, we will have to know where to start, so we had better consider Cyrus II the Great in Scripture a moment, to see where we ought to begin with before him, and then unto him.

Who came before Cyrus that is like Cyrus? Well, we briefly need to take a look at Cyrus:

Isaiah 41:2 - Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

Isaiah 46:11 - Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

Isaiah 44:26 - That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

Isaiah 44:27 - That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:

Isaiah 44:28 - That saith of Cyrus, [He is] my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

    Isaiah 45:1 - Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

Isaiah 45:2 - I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

Isaiah 45:3 - And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call [thee] by thy name, [am] the God of Israel.

2 Chronicles 36:22 - Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD [spoken] by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and [put it] also in writing, saying,

2 Chronicles 36:23 - Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which [is] in Judah. Who [is there] among you of all his people? The LORD his God [be] with him, and let him go up.

Ezra 1:1 - Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and [put it] also in writing, saying,

Ezra 1:2 - Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which [is] in Judah.

Ezra 1:3 - Who [is there] among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which [is] in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he [is] the God,) which [is] in Jerusalem.

Ezra 1:4 - And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that [is] in Jerusalem.

    Etc.

What are the points we can consider to look for?

[1] Righteous Man, a man that executheth My [God's] Counsel, a servant
    [2] [He is] my shepherd
    [3] From the East, Deliverer
[4] God was to subdue the Nations before Him/them
[5] God, "I" will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight
[6] That saith to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid
[7] That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers
    [8] Anointed
[9] Cyrus name means "Glory of a blazing furnace/sun"
[0] Great treasures/wealth would be given unto him

Who in the history before Cyrus II, is like unto that?

    Simple.

    Moses.

    Look again.

[1] Righteous Man, a man that executheth My [God's] Counsel, a servant:

Exodus 24:12 - And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

Numbers 12:3 - (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

Numbers 12:7 - My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.

Hebrews 3:2 - Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

    Hebrews 3:5 - And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

Numbers 36:13 - These are the commandments and the judgments, which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.

Nehemiah 9:14 - And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:

    [2] [He is] my shepherd:

Exodus 3:1 - Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

Psalms 77:20 - Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Psalms 78:52 - But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.

[3] From the East, for since Moses had fled from Egypt going eastward, finally ending at Mt. Sinai, he then comes from that Mountain back unto Egypt from which direction? East, as deliverer.

Exodus 3:1 - Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

Galatians 4:25 - For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

[4] To subdue the Nations before Him/them:

Exodus 17:14 - And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

Deuteronomy 4:38 - To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.

Deuteronomy 25:19 - Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

Deuteronomy 28:12 - The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

[5] I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight:

    Deuteronomy 1:30 - The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

Deuteronomy 1:33 - Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

Exodus 13:21 - And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

Deuteronomy 31:3 - The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said.

Deuteronomy 31:8 - And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Exodus 23:23 - For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

Exodus 32:34 - Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

Exodus 34:24 - For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.

[6] That saith to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid:

Exodus 25:9 - According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

Exodus 26:30 - And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which was shewed thee in the mount.

Exodus 33:7 - And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.

Exodus 36:6 - And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing.

[7] That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:

Exodus 14:21 - And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

Psalms 106:9 - He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

Isaiah 51:10 - Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?

Joshua 2:10 - For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

Joshua 4:23 - For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:

[8] Anointed, Moses was anointed by the Holy Spirit, and did the anointing:

Numbers 11:17 - And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which [is] upon thee, and will put [it] upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear [it] not thyself alone.

Numbers 11:29 - And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, [and] that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

Leviticus 8:10 - And Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that [was] therein, and sanctified them.

    Numbers 7:1 - And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle, and had anointed it, and sanctified it, and all the instruments thereof, both the altar and all the vessels thereof, and had anointed them, and sanctified them;

[9] Cyrus name means "Glory of a blazing furnace/sun", and so also Moses, actually shone, from the brightness of being/seeing God, Jesus Christ:

Exodus 34:29 - And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.

Exodus 34:30 - And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.

Exodus 34:35 - And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

2 Corinthians 3:13 - And not as Moses, [which] put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

2 Corinthians 4:6 - For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

[0] Great treasures/wealth would be given unto him, for when they left Egypt, they left with great treasures:

Exodus 11:2 - Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.

Exodus 11:3 - And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses [was] very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.

Exodus 12:35 - And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:

Exodus 12:36 - And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them [such things as they required]. And they spoiled the Egyptians.

When Israel was delivered, from Egypt, and finally in their land, they wanted Kings...

    [1.] Abimelech
    [2.] Saul
    [3.] David

and the fourth, far richer than they all...

    [4]. Solomon

but through apostasy the Kingdom was divided into a Northern and Southern...

and finally a Kingdom would come, and surround them and Level the City and Temple to the Ground - Babylon...

As the past is given, so the Future from Daniel's day, and now we have caught up to Rome in AD 70, but Daniel 11; Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, etc, does not stop there in vs 20... history was to repeat...

    ...jumping ahead to the final...

... for Christ Jesus the true Cyrus is to come again... from the North/East, with the Immortals (Angels) (like Cyrus had in 'crack troops'), will dry up the Great River Euphrates (many peoples) that flow unto Babylon the Great...

There is so much more detail to be yet given.

Brothers, and sisters, we are in the final events of Daniel 11:40-45, 12:1-3, and the worse and best is yet to come...

    Christ Jesus:

John 5:39 - Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Psalms 40:7 - Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

Hebrews 10:7 - Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Luke 24:27 - And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

John 1:45 - Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Acts 28:23 - And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Acts 3:18 - But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

What are the points we can consider to look for? Well, it would be the very same, as we have already noted in Cyrus, the type of Christ, a Deliverer (though there are also many other points to look at throughout Scripture, but simply picking one).

    Simple.

These all Christ Jesus would/will fulfill.

    Look again.

As it was in the days of Daniel, so was it also in the days past of Moses before him, and so also was it in the days future of Christ's earthly life, and so also was it to be in days future of the life of the Church itself.

History is repeating brothers and sisters, and there is much more to share, that will hopefully awaken us all to the times in which we live.

Christ Jesus knew exactly what time (prophetically speaking) it was in His day, and where He Himself was in that time, and what He was to do in that time. Are we to know any less? No, brethren, for as it is written, we are not in darkness, and Prophecy is a Light unto us:

2 Peter 1:19 - We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Notice the context of that statement made by Peter:

2 Peter 1:12 - Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know [them], and be established in the present truth.

Notice what He, Jesus, said, very carefully:

Mark 1:14 - Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

Mark 1:15 - And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Therein, Jesus was referring to the 69 (of the 70) Weeks (483 of 490 years, see also Matthew 18:22) of Daniel 9 (9:24-27), for Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit in the Jordan:

Psalm 45:7 - Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

    Isaiah 61:1 - The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound;

Luke 4:18 - The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Acts 4:27 - For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

Acts 10:38 - How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Hebrews 1:9 - Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, [even] thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

This was done at the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan, in AD 27 (*):

Matthew 3:16 - And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Mark 1:10 - And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

Luke 3:22 - And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

John 1:32 - And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

Look, as Jesus knew, we are to know:

Luke 4:16 - And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Luke 4:17 - And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

Luke 4:19 - To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Luke 4:20 - And he closed the book, and he gave [it] again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

Luke 4:21 - And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Luke 4:22 - And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

Luke 4:23 - And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

Luke 4:24 - And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

    Luke 4:25 - But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

Luke 4:26 - But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, [a city] of Sidon, unto a woman [that was] a widow.

Luke 4:27 - And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

Take notice of that 3 1/2 year timeframe that Jesus specifically mentioned. It would be the very time He would preach, for Christ Jesus knew the exact Year, Month, Day and Hour of His death.

Yet after Christ Jesus, history was to repeat itself among the Apostles for the next 3 1/2 years (from AD 31 unto AD 34 (*)). Just as Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and went through a great deal unto his rejection by the Sanhedrin and killed, so too the Apostles and Disciples, once they were anointed at Pentecost, to go through such a deal, even for 3 1/2 more years, unto the final rejection of Stephen by the Sanhedrin and his death in AD 34 (*) (thus ending the 70 weeks of Daniel 9, but merely the first portion of the much greater time prophecy in Daniel 8).

    Hebrews 2:3 - How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard [him];

Notice, History is repeating, a short and simple overview on a more grand scheme.

[1] In Daniel's day, a Kingdom (Babylon) surrounded Jerusalem, but was sent back (because of the Egypt).
[2] Jeremiah escaped out of the City, between sieges, before it was destroyed.
[3] In Daniel's day, that same Kingdom (Babylon) came back, and surrounded Jerusalem again, and this time, leveled it...

In the Days of the Apostles...

[1] In the Apostle's day, a Kingdom (Rome) surrounded Jerusalem, but went back (because of worldly matters).
[2] The Apostles and Disciples still alive, were able to escape the City, between sieges, before it was destroyed, as foretold by Jesus.
[3] In the Apostle's day, that same Kingdom (Rome) came back, and surrounded Jerusalem again, and this time, leveled it...

In the Days we are now in... Daniel 11:40-45, 12:1-3, Ezekiel; Jeremiah, etc, look again...

There is much more detail to share.

In the days of the OT we have:

    King Ahab (political Ruler)
    Jezebel (wicked idolatrous Queen Mother)
Athaliah (wicked idolatrous daughter of Queen Mother)
Elijah (the messenger of God), later Elisha also
Church/State combine to Persecute of God's people...

In the New Testament days of Jesus Christ we have:

    King Herod (Antipas) (political ruler)
    Herodias (wicked Queen Mother)
    Salome (wicked daughter of Queen)
John the Baptist (the Elijah message for the first coming)
Church/State combine to Persecute God's people

In the Prophecies foretold in Scripture:

Roman Emperors and Kings of the world (political ruler(s))
Apostate Woman/Church (Jezebel of Rev.) (wicked adulterous Queen Mother)
Apostate daughters of the Woman (wicked adulterous, harlot, daughters)
The Remnant of God (the last Elijah message, heralding the second coming)
Church/State combine to Persecute God's people

Prophecy foretold, that History is to repeat.
