Sure this is an old topic. And it won't be the first time it's been discussed and debated on the board. But this time, the issue is no longer hypothetical. The act of terror that killed so many people that day and left hundreds scarred for life is real. So how does that weigh in on your opinion regarding the death penalty.

Is it right for this case, or should he have been given a life sentence?

My view is simple ... had he lived ina Muslim nation, he'd have lost his head by know. In North Korea, he'd been killed by a firing squad of anti-aircraft guns. I have no objections to the sentence, because he can live to a ripe old age exhausting his appeals.

So let's here your thoughts? Especially if they changed because of what he had done in this horrendous act of terrorism.

Not so sure they would have gotten the death penalty if they lived in a Muslim Nation. More likely...a medal or commendation of some sort.

I think the principles set forth in the Law still apply, in that the intentional taking of a life deserves death. While we are not under the Covenant of Law, we do not eradicate the foundational principles of God's Word.

    God bless.

"Truthfully, I don’t know how they keep their sanity," says this Sister Rita Clare Something-or-other. When did he, and others like him, ever have any to keep?

If they put guys like that in hard labor, I'd be for that. But instead the taxpayers are going to furnish him a living for years while greedy lawyers keep their loot coming in by prolonging that savage act of a needle prick.

Are you willing and able to pay for this kind of sentence? We pay between $30,000 and 60,000 a year, depending upon which state you live in, to house a convict for one year! So, I'd like an answer from you, CTB, are you willing to take on the yearly cost of housing him in supermax, which I am sure costs a wee bit more?

    http://www.criminaljusticedegreehub.com/how-much-does-it-cost-to-incarcerate-a-convict/

Plus, those in prison for life do stand a chance to have their terms reduced, the longer they are in prison, based on the liberalization of this country. The Boston bomber could one day be let out to bomb again! Would you want him living next to your retirement home 20 years from now? :type:

He should have never had a trial....this guy is a terrorist and a premeditated murderer. A military tribunal and then hang him......like we did with the Nazis

Agreed. He is not a criminal. He was the enemy at war with us, and should face war crimes for acts against civilians.

I see. So when Sharia law or communist "justice" lines up with your personal beliefs it can't be carried out fast enough. Got it.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. 1 Tim. 6:10

Continues to be shameful how those who say they follow Christ are more concerned with non-eternal money than they are about a person's life.

And Jesus shouldn't have ever died on the Cross for you but rather sent you to an eternal hell for your trespasses.

    Oh for grace and mercy.

If ISIS kidnapped the president and demanded $1 trillion for his life and that every American must pay equally-- approx. $3100/person-- should every American pay or go into debt for this purpose, snubbing "non-eternal" items like food and shelter?

But I was chosen from before the foundations of the world for salvation....by the creator. And I didn't put a pressure cooker bomb made by my own hands in a croud of innocent people to laserate, maim and kill. That was premeditated .....murderer one and perpetrated on children. I never terrorized anyone.

The severity of the punishment reflects the value of the victims. Or the lack of it.

Christ did die for him. As near as I can tell, he has scorned that gift. I'll admit, I don't love the guy. I should, but I don't. But God does.

I do pray for his salvation, while understanding that death penalty is just, and hope that it is carried out swiftly. If God sees fit to give him a chance to repent before death, He can do it in five years, five days, or five minutes. God's not on our timeline.

If you read my comment to be against his sentence, you could not be more wrong.

Guess what .... the unborn child didn't blow up the marathon killing and injuring many, many innocent people!

You know God gave you a mind to think with, and like the Untied Negro Colleges Fund slogan says, "a mind is a terrible thing to waste .... !" So please Zaac, quit wasting yours!
