We all know that Paul had some for of a thorn in the flesh, which leads me to ask if he may have been thinking about dying when he said, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." Phil. 1:21

Now I know that was not his intention when he spoke these words, still I read this statement on an atheist page, and would like your input and thoughts! :flower:

If he talked about dying, one would guess that he thought about dying.

Suicidal? Doubt it. Eager to see his Lord? I suspect so.

Paul had no love for this world. He looked forward to being with Christ which was gain to him. For him to live in this world was to be a hundred per cent follower of Christ and preach to others. He also knew the time of his departure was at hand.

    Rolf and SM are correct.

Looking forward to being with Christ and despising this world are not synonymous with being suicidal.

An atheist page? I would have considered the source and moved on.

It is an inane question with no foundation.

Trusting information about the apostle Paul found on an atheist's page is like trusting foreign policy information coming from Obama.

    LOL!!

    :)

Agreed, however, once in a while I do attempt to witness to atheists, and this was an inane statement sent to me. I told the person so, but I felt it was interesting enough to share with folks, because it made me think about my answer to him!

Scraping the bottom of the barrel? No! Sharing and asking for your input? Yes! :flower:
