NOTE THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WOMEN PASTORS OR WOMEN PREACHING IN THE CHURCH.

This topic lets chat about female open air street preachers. How often have you seen a woman open air? Ray Comfort has supported females open air preaching before, but WOTM evangelists seem divided on this topic. Some say she cant open air, and others say she can. I expect those on this board will also be divided on this topic.

    Charles Spurgeon, "All At It":

"so were there no exclusions on account of sex. Men and women were to spread abroad the knowledge of Jesus. We read that, “As for Saul, he made havoc of the Church, entering into every house and haling men and women committing them to prison. Therefore they that were scattered abroad” (and these must have been men and woman) “went everywhere preaching the Word.” There are many ways in which women can fittingly proclaim the Word of the Lord and in some of these they can proclaim it more efficiently than men. There are minds that will be attracted by the tender, plaintive, winning manner in which the sister in Christ expresses herself."

Don't think it'll be that divided. Everyone, including women, are supposed to preach. The prohibition is that women not be overseers of the church.

Well my first thoughts are, the Samaritan woman told all those people about Christ.

I don't really see any reason why a woman could not publicly declare the gospel.

I think it's wrong for her to be a pastor or to teach men the scriptures in a church setting.

Neither do I but some think scripture forbids it, but it only forbids her being a pastor and preaching/teaching in the church.

Some churches would add over women as well.

But that's not biblical (Scripture not only refrains from prohibiting women as teachers/ministers - except over men - it seems to encourage the practice). I'm not familiar with those churches, and I assume that you don't take that position (correct me, please, if I'm wrong here).

Many IFB churches operate this way. In fact I can think of a church in SC like this and even a man must be in church of the nursery ministry,

How many other IFB churches require a man to be in charge of the nursery? Of all the IFB churches I attended, the womenfolk took care of the nursery. Some of them asked the husbands to be with the wives when it was their turn to be the nursery worker; but none of the ones that I've attended had a man in charge of the nursery.

"One church" that you're familiar with is a prime example of independent fundamental baptist....

So much for the OP's demand to limit the discussion to 'open-airing'.

You answered the question of whether or not you believed women should not be able to teach women in the church? Where?

You know….as much as I hate to admit it….I mean would rather drink out of the toilet hate….Evan does have a point (but perhaps not the one he was trying to make, which makes my admission a bit more palatable).

Many of the churches that I’ve attended would not have a woman as a “children’s pastor” simply because women shouldn’t be pastors. I don’t, and never did, agree with using the term “pastor” to refer to the ministry in general. But even then, I do not believe I’ve ever seen a woman over the children’s ministry. The closest I’ve seen has been a couple that led worship. I believe that there may be a case to be made that it is difficult for women to fill positions that are not even in question biblically, and I think that this is often due to tradition. Since I am thinking of a full-time setting, perhaps it is also linked to traditional perspectives regarding a woman's responsibility at home.
