I see this bully thing as a tactic to shame & deride. My Brothers family is now using it to give the guy a guilt trip ....its the ultimate "Chink in the Armour" weapon for the secular who accuse Christians of evil activities....kinda like "Have you stopped beating your wife"....no win situation. My brothers wife got it on line & then presented it to his Pastor in order to humiliate him. The thing is, the pastor agreed with it. Now I'm not saying my brother is completely innocent of all the accusations, but I see it as a complete breakdown of family & a WIN for secular society.

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

You're gonna have to be clearer about what you're talking about.

Not clear to me either, but the "Bully" accusations do get thrown around here a lot as well.

Just as most liberals deny they are liberals, most if not all bullies deny they are bullies. I get insulted and when I complain, they respond they were just trying to be helpful and I should stop playing the victim.

This bulletin board allows many who hurl charges and disparagements against those who hold differing views. Such behavior wrecks our testimony of loving one another.

Way too many threads start with a charge of malfeasance against someone else. But scripture is clear about fault finders. Rather than curse the darkness, we should be lighting candles...

From what I've seen here, many of the "bullying" incidents on this board go like this:

Tom sneaks up and punches Joe from the side first
Joe then grabs Tom, throws him down and stomps him
Tom cries "attack" and wants Joe reprimanded for bullying

A lot of guys need to put their big girl pants on and quit looking for a reason to be offended

And a few little punks need to quit with the opening insult of they can't take it in return

    WWTRS?

    What
    Would
    Teddy
    Roosevelt
    Say?

America's 26th POTUS probably would say, "Bully Good!"

TR--whether you favored him or not--was a POTUS who at least you knew where he stood.

He was the one who "liberated" Panama from Colombia so he could build that little ditch called the Panama Canal.

In a demonstration of how the US Navy had converted all of its capital ships from wooden sailing ships to metal coal-fired ships, he sent what was called the "Great White Fleet" on a world-wide "tour" to many major world ports (with an implied message that if any of these countries were thinking about going to war at sea with the US, maybe they'd better think twice about that).

He championed conserving "unspoiled" lands in the US by creating the first National Park--Yellowstone National Park in the NW corner of Wyoming (& parts of MT & ID).

For all his so-called "militarist" moves, TR was the first POTUS to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for mediating the peace between Japan and Russia in 1905.

TR considered the office of POTUS to be his "Bully Pulpit" for whatever he wanted to have as "his next project."

IMHO, TR did a lot of things that I personally would have done differently (or not at all), but OTOH, you didn't have to wonder what TR was up to [not like some POTUS's].

Im quite certain there is a litany of gripes that she posed to the guy. They accumulate but the back breaker was his moving back to Jersey to get a job that paid substantially more & allowed him to advance both himself & their children economically. So bottom line, there was allot of domestic issues.

As a side note, I both rescue & raise bulldogs....and bullies has a very interesting character that you don't find in most breeds. Very independent, very stubborn, very affectionate....Intrepid would be the word if on is limited in description.

Occasionally you will see ads on TV asking to unite against "bullying." What the actual agenda is is to push acceptance of homosexual behavior. If you speak against it, why you are a bully!!

So the anti-bullying campaign is actually an effort to bully those holding biblcial view.

The term "bully" is baloney. The only reason one is bullied is because one allows him or herself to be bullied. Stand on your own two feet. Take up for yourself. IMO those who run and hide behind the bully apron have little respect for themselves and are basically cry babies.

This is all very well. If you are talking about adults, sure they should stand up for themselves. However, even when one stands up for one's self, that doesn't change the fact of the bullying. It still exists.

What makes it difficult is when a child is bullied by many because of societal mores. In Japan, my missionary friend was married to a Japanese woman, and had six (I think) kids in the public school system. Tom was an ex-green beret, certainly no sissy, nor were his children. But the racist Japanese children mocked them with "foreigner," "AIDS kid," etc. Tom's kids were not sissies, nor were they cowards, so they stood up for themselves. But the bullying was real, very real, and done by groups of Japanese kids, not just one or two. This is very common in Japan.

My own son was bullied by the neighbor kids in Japan when he was little. As his father, I stood up for him and rebuked the Japanese kids, then taught him our martial art when he was older, so he could take care of himself. That's the proper way to handle it, not call the kid a sissy.

Principally my brother moved them from their home. Once from NJ to PA (when he went to Baptist Bible College) & then later on (when they were used to PA) he moved them back to NJ....that was done because he needed a job & he got one in New Jersey.....PA is dead regarding jobs.....they would have starved to death. Resentfulness set in & continued on. He intercepted a email from the wife telling her friends that they had to find a CHINK IN HIS ARMOR.

Sounds like both sides need to address issues.

Brother....people can be intentional bullies or unintentional bullies or perseived as bullies (when they are not trying to be). sometimes its a matter of will.

The Author "Taylor Caldwell" said it best ......The nature of human beings never changes; it is immutable. The present generation of children and the present generation of young adults from the age of thirteen to eighteen is, therefore, no different from that of their great-great-grandparents. Political fads come and go; theories rise and fall; the scientific ‘truth’ of today becomes the discarded error of tomorrow. Man’s ideas change, but not his inherent nature. That remains. So, if the children are monstrous today – even criminal – it is not because their natures have become polluted, but because they have not been taught better, nor disciplined.”

Yes however his wife was content to stay put in PA & would not have it any other way. She also always defaults to a secular position when it is important to support the husband. She has created such a rift & poisoned the children against him .....now he cant do anything right. They have really destroyed the guys confidence. Tell me that that's a loving relationship!

I don't have anything specific to the topic. I just wanted to post in order to express my appreciation for the use of the word "litany." :)

You taught him Wing Chun? Did the beatings increase?

Just kidding. As you know, the CHUN is central to JKD.

Srsly, bullying is REAL. My niece is autistic. The kids picked on her CONSTANTLY at school and even during summer break. They were cruel to her.

Really sad that this man's self confident and self worth is trying to be destroyed by his own wife and kids. Really this woman should not be spreading lies to destroy this man as much as he seems to be going out of his way and beyond the extra mile. Praying for this situation of theirs. :(
